Job Description

Northrop Grumman is a global aerospace, defense, and technology company renowned for its commitment to innovation and excellence. With a rich history of pioneering work, including the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, stealth bomber development, and moon landing contributions, Northrop Grumman continues to push the boundaries of technological advancement. The company’s culture values intellectual curiosity, diversity, and a pioneering spirit, encouraging employees to bring their whole selves to work and collaborate on revolutionary systems that impact lives globally. Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration, based in Colorado Springs, CO, is a critical division focused on national security through advanced missile defense systems.

The Sr Principal Systems Engineer (Integration) role (ref: 26-263) at Northrop Grumman offers an excellent career opportunity to contribute to the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, a key part of the Missile Defense System. This vital operational system supports the U.S. president, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battles, and control networked sensors and weapon systems. The integration of autonomous sensor and weapon systems is critical to ensure effective layered missile defense capabilities, enhancing the mission success in global and regional contexts.

As a Sr Principal Systems Engineer focusing on integration, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the testing and development of missile defense technologies. This position requires hands-on technical expertise in integrating JEMINI Lab test suites, troubleshooting issues, developing configurations for testing and prototypes, and automating scripts to manage remote hosts. You will collaborate closely with software development teams to resolve interface and configuration issues, and review system specifications and documentation to ensure alignment with program requirements. Your efforts will directly impact the success of missile defense ground and flight tests, certifying current and future capabilities.

This position requires an active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret and SCI clearance. Due to the sensitive nature of the work, relocation assistance is not provided, and the candidate must be willing to work on-site in Colorado Springs, CO. Occasional travel (up to 10% of the time) is expected. The role demands proficiency in Linux, scripting languages such as Bash and Python, automation tools like Ansible, and a strong background in system integration and troubleshooting. Familiarity with virtualized environments, security design, Agile and DevOps methodologies, and automated testing is essential.

The salary range for this senior-level position is $129,300 to $193,600 annually, with compensation influenced by experience, education, and market conditions. Additional incentives may include bonuses, overtime pay, and long-term incentives for eligible roles. Northrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, savings plans, paid time off, education assistance, training, and flexible work arrangements, supporting employee growth and well-being. Northrop Grumman is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring a supportive environment where innovation thrives.
