The Sr. Principal Linux Systems Administrator role within Northrop Grumman’s CIDO Classified Solutions team is an exciting opportunity located in Melbourne, Florida. This full-time, on-site position requires a security clearance due to the classified nature of the work, with no telecommuting options. The role focuses on managing High Performance Computing (HPC) systems supporting information system lifecycle activities for classified government contracts. As a senior technical leader, you will lead HPC system integration, operation, performance optimization, and cybersecurity compliance.

Key responsibilities include monitoring HPC system health, troubleshooting performance bottlenecks, and modifying system parameters to enhance efficiency. You will be integral in HPC technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, costing, risk, and supportability analyses. Managing the complete lifecycle of HPC systems—from concept and design through installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and disposal—is core to this role. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with software developers and engineers to optimize their applications within HPC environments and support technical users.

The role inherently involves working within stringent cybersecurity policies, including scanning, patching, hardening, and collecting necessary audit data to maintain compliance. You will oversee multi-user computer systems and networks, coordinate with IT teams, and interact with vendors. Defining and maintaining enterprise-wide system enhancements, backup and disaster recovery frameworks, and stringent security access procedures are essential components of your work. This position requires strong communication skills, as you will report strategic initiatives to executive leadership and act as a key technical advisor across mission-critical systems.

The ideal candidate will have advanced experience with Red Hat or other Linux systems in classified environments operating under NISPOM, RMF, STIG, and related standards. Experience with HPC design, network architecture, programming (e.g., Python, BASH), and system diagnostics is highly valued. The role demands flexibility to work after hours or weekends as needed and physical capability to handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
