The Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) division has an opening for a Sr. Principal Project Manager (Level 4) within the F35 Modification Management organization. This key role is available onsite in various locations including Fort Worth, TX; San Diego, CA; Beaufort, SC; Cherry Point, NC; or Yuma, AZ. The Sr. Principal Project Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of contractual requirements on cost, schedule, and technical fronts. This position demands close coordination and collaboration with multiple cross-functional teams such as the F35 Depot Flow Plan scheduling team, F35 Modifications Manager, and Contract Field Team leadership. Responsibilities include owning and maintaining aircraft modification schedules and driving execution performance to meet delivery commitments.

The role requires the individual to monitor project progress, manage risks and opportunities, develop mitigation strategies, and enforce continuous improvement actions based on quality assurance results and feedback. The Sr. Principal Project Manager will also serve as the Control Account Manager and Earned Value Management coordinator, supporting the creation of basis of estimates and proposals for follow-on contracts. Effective communication and coordination with U.S. Marine Corps and Navy customers, site leads, domestic and international partners, and suppliers is essential to ensure that aircraft modifications are executed on time, within scope, and meet stringent quality standards. This role involves approximately 25% travel and requires an active government Secret Security Clearance. The compensation range is between $123,400.00 and $185,000.00, depending on experience and qualifications. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • 8 years of related experience or 6 years with a Master's degree
  • active, in-scope government Secret Security Clearance
  • experience in project or program management
  • proficiency with MS Office Suite tools
  • familiarity with F35 maintenance and modifications
  • ability to lead geographically distributed teams
  • knowledge of U.S. military flightline operations
  • experience managing cross functional teams
  • skills in business and financial management
  • risk management experience
  • ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience, or Master's degree and 6 years of related experience
  • active, in-scope government Secret Security Clearance with a recent investigation within last 5 years
  • experience in project management, program management, sustainment, engineering, depot/MRO&
  • U or flightline maintenance, capture efforts, or business management
  • proficiency in MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project
  • experience in F35 maintenance and modifications including aircraft structures, software, avionics, weapons, fuel, hydraulic systems and stealth coatings
  • proven ability to lead geographically separated teams without direct authority
  • familiarity with U.S. military flightline operations
  • experience leading cross functional teams
  • demonstrated business and financial management skills
  • coordination of work across multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • experience with Risk and Opportunity Management
  • experience with monitoring and controlling program plans, cost and schedule baselines

Job Duties

  • Review status of projects and budgets
  • manage schedules and prepare daily status reports
  • assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and stakeholder goals
  • develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and intervention
  • serve as senior project manager for F35 aircraft modification induction, execution, and sell off at depot and operational sites
  • develop, integrate and maintain detailed modification schedules
  • partner with Program Manager to ensure accurate customer deliverables
  • lead and coordinate cross functional Integrated Product Teams
  • coordinate with external stakeholders including USMC/USN customers and partners
  • drive Risk and Opportunity Management including mitigation planning
  • ensure implementation of new processes and continuous improvement actions
  • manage contract scope, Statement of Work, and changes through control board activities
  • develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and performance baselines
  • serve as program Control Account Manager and Earned Value Management coordinator
  • support development of Basis of Estimates and proposals for contracts
