Job Description

Raytheon Technologies (RTX) is a leading aerospace and defense company with a rich history spanning over 100 years. Renowned for its engineering expertise, RTX is dedicated to supporting national security and the defense of freedoms through innovative technologies and solutions. The company operates globally with a commitment to creating safer and more secure environments for the United States and its allies. RTX's culture is built on its core values of safety, trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation, which drive its operations, behaviors, and performance. Located in Tucson, Arizona, RTX is seeking a highly skilled Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE) Program Lead to join its Materials Design and Development Section within the Hardware Engineering department.

The M&PE Program Lead role is critical to the technical execution of missile hardware design, development, and manufacturing. The successful candidate will leverage expertise in hardware engineering and materials/process engineering to support key program milestones while ensuring adherence to production schedules and cost targets. This onsite position requires an active or interim U.S. government-issued security clearance at the secret level, and candidates must be U.S. citizens to be eligible. The position offers a broad salary range of $86,800 to $165,200 USD, reflective of experience, education, skills, and job responsibilities.

This role involves coordinating M&PE resources to meet program demands effectively, providing essential technical support during design and gate reviews, Material Review Board, Change Control Board, Process Change Board, and other engineering peer reviews. Attention to detail and accuracy are paramount for technical outputs, including well-founded M&PE positions based on data-driven analyses. The Program Lead will interface with multiple cross-functional teams such as Common Electronic Products, Mission Assurance and Quality, Operations, Reliability, and Supply Chain, making collaboration and communication vital to succeed. Additional responsibilities include supporting failure investigations, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to proposal efforts.

With a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement, this position requires experience in material selection, mechanical and chemical testing techniques, and process optimization. Candidates will also be expected to manage labor costs and schedules, resolve technical challenges, and present complex information clearly to large technical audiences. This role will appeal to engineering professionals who thrive in dynamic, high-stakes environments and want to make a tangible impact on national defense technology.

This opportunity provides a chance to join a company with a strong ethical foundation and a mission-driven culture. RTX offers an inclusive workplace that respects diversity and upholds equal opportunity employment. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability coverage, retirement plans with matching contributions, paid time off, parental leave, and ongoing professional development such as the Employee Scholar Program. The company actively supports work-life balance with flexible schedules and assistance programs.
