The Power Generation Department at CPS Energy is currently seeking a seasoned professional for the role of Power Plant Operations Manager at the Braunig/Leon Creek Power Station located in San Antonio, TX. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives in managing the intricate operations of power generation units, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The position is classified as a Grade 19 pay grade and the usual 12-month service requirement for CPS Energy employees has been waived, allowing candidates to apply regardless of their tenure with the company. The role requires a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who will oversee the day-to-day operations, coordinate with maintenance teams, and manage compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

As the Power Plant Operations Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the operations and maintenance staff, coordinating maintenance schedules, and collaborating with Energy Market Operations to optimize unit availability and reduce financial impacts. The position demands a comprehensive knowledge of industrial power plant processes and regulations, leadership capabilities to manage diverse teams, and keen analytical skills to address challenges proactively. You will also develop and maintain work management principles to improve reliability and asset availability, prepare reports for regulatory agencies, and assume full responsibility for operations and maintenance in the absence of the Plant Director.

This role demands excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate across business units and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience, strong leadership acumen, and a demonstrated record of successful execution in power plant operations. Preferred qualifications include PE registration in the State of Texas and experience working with LM6000 aeroderivative engines at a power plant. The environment is both indoor and outdoor with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions, requiring flexibility for after-hours support and weekend rotations.
