Operating as a Legends Global venue, the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, is a multi-use entertainment facility that hosts an array of world-class events including concerts, family shows, and sporting events. The venue prioritizes the delivery of a safe, clean, and engaging environment to ensure the highest level of entertainment, guest experience, and customer satisfaction. The Senior Manager of Events & Guest Services at the KFC Yum! Center plays a vital leadership role within the Event Services department and reports directly to the General Manager. This is a salaried, exempt, full-time management position responsible for overall event management, production, and guest service operations. The Senior Manager oversees a team including the Event Manager and full-time staff and is accountable for the flawless execution of diverse events such as collegiate sports games, concerts, and family shows.
Key responsibilities include directing and supervising all operational aspects of event coordination and services, managing staffing and schedules including Manager on Duty rotations, overseeing audio/visual production, security, crowd and risk management, and ensuring compliance with ADA and other regulatory standards. The role requires an individual who can effectively liaise with major stakeholders like the Louisville Cardinals, NCAA, and other partners on event day operations, rules, and procedures. Additionally, the Senior Manager is instrumental in developing and maintaining strong tenant and promoter relationships and troubleshooting guest service issues as they arise. They also play a leadership role in planning, training, and safety management including participation in the arena's Safety Committee. This position demands a proactive, strategic leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage, develop, and hold staff accountable. Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, substantial supervisory experience in public assembly or event management, and demonstrate operational knowledge related to live event venues. The role requires flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and multiple shifts, reflecting the dynamic nature of the event management industry. Job Requirements
- Must be able to work events, multiple shifts, long hours, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work with limited supervision and interact with all levels of staff and management
- Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university
- Five to seven years related experience in the public assembly industry in supervisory or management role or equivalent
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of operational procedures and event production
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage staff
- Must be proactive and decisive
- Ability to coordinate and direct multiple event operations
- Must comply with union contractual obligations and company policies
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Physical ability to move quickly throughout arena for extended periods
- Ability to stand for long hours during events
- Ability to lift or move items up to 50 pounds
- Must follow safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Must maintain effective relationships with clients and vendors.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university
- Five to seven years related experience and/or training in the public assembly industry in a supervisory or management position or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrate knowledge in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements
- Engage in independent decision making governed by procedure and policy
- Proactive and decisive leader with excellent communication skills and a strategic mindset
- Ability to manage, lead, develop, and hold staff accountable
- Operate portable radio and standard office equipment
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively
- Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Work effectively under pressure and produce accurate results
- Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons
- Remain flexible and adapt to situations as they occur
- Experience with AutoCAD preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Job Duties
- Direct, supervise and schedule all aspects of operations including event coordination and services, event staffing, Manager on Duty schedules, audio/visual production services, security, crowd and risk management, police, fire and safety personnel, and ADA compliance
- Manage and supervise the Manager, Events & Guest Services
- Assign events to Manager, Events & Guest Services
- Manage, coordinate, and plan all aspects of self-assigned events
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Louisville Cardinals, the NCAA and the KFC Yum! Center on game day as it pertains to events, rules and regulations, standard operating procedures, guest services and communications
- Responsible for all summaries of events produced by the Event Services Department
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, tenants, and vendors
- Direct and lead cultivation of relationships with tenants and promoters
- Troubleshoot issues during events as they arise including guest services
- Ensure union contractual obligations and company policies/procedures are maintained
- Anticipate production, logistical, and operation problems and appropriate solutions
- Ensure that all aspects of the guest services operation are conducted efficiently and within company and facility policies
- Work with Manager, Events & Guest Services to create and implement training programs
- Serve on the Safety Committee for the arena
- Know and ensure compliance with laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures
- Assist with event and guest services management at other Legends Global venues
- Develop operating procedures that conform to corporate standards and client objectives
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve operational problems and complaints
- Conduct periodic staff meetings
- Rotate as Manager on Duty maintaining responsibility over clients, staff, patrons, security and safety in assigned buildings.
