Job Description

The company is currently seeking a Full-time Content Marketing Manager, located in Memphis, TN, with a hybrid working model requiring onsite presence four days per week. The role involves out-of-area and overnight travel for specific events. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong background in cheer and/or dance who is a strategic thinker and storyteller skilled in managing media and content initiatives across various platforms. These include social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube, as well as Varsity’s websites and streaming platforms. The Content Marketing Manager is tasked with leading Varsity Spirit's content and social media strategy, execution, and monitoring, driving engagement and brand presence.

Key responsibilities include designing and directing the influencer program strategy with a focus on events, capsule collections, and content scheduling. The role also requires collaboration with various teams to develop and execute multi-channel marketing strategies that align with Varsity Spirit's mission and business objectives. Managing marketing strategies for events such as the PCL to drive ticket sales and merchandise revenue is another critical component. The manager will oversee apparel marketing initiatives to expand reach and engagement for Varsity Spirit's apparel lines. They will also manage content for paid media campaigns and ensure consistency in messaging across all channels.

This role includes representing Varsity Spirit as the on-site media contact at key events and coordinating communication strategies through email and social media. It requires proactive storytelling that amplifies positive news and company achievements, including camps, competitions, and community engagement campaigns such as Varsity Spirit Cares. The Content Marketing Manager will supervise two team members: a Social Media Strategist and a Social Media Specialist, and foster collaboration across departments to ensure brand voice alignment in all multimedia content.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in marketing, communications or related field
  • Experience with social media management tools
  • Experience with project management tools
  • Ability to travel overnight for events
  • Ability to work onsite four days per week in Memphis, TN
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, pull equipment weighing at least 30 lbs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in marketing, communications or related field
  • Experience in direct management of individuals preferred
  • Experience using social media and project management tools
  • Knowledge of crisis communications or consumer affairs a plus
  • Well-organized with ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills
  • Background in cheerleading or dance preferred
  • Creative, passionate, with high integrity and energy

Job Duties

  • Lead Varsity Spirit's content and social media strategy, execution, monitoring and response
  • Manage presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, varsity.com, Varsity TV
  • Design and direct influencer program strategy, budget and execution including events and collaborations
  • Develop and execute multi-channel marketing strategies in collaboration with the Marketing team
  • Lead marketing strategy for PCL driving ticket sales, merchandise revenue, and content performance
  • Provide strategic oversight for apparel marketing, content, and social media initiatives
  • Oversee content development for paid media campaigns ensuring brand alignment
  • Ensure campaigns align with Varsity Spirit mission and initiatives
  • Partner on content development for various channels including website and social media
  • Collaborate with creative and digital teams for multimedia consistency
  • Manage editorial calendars and content workflows
  • Expand presence across traditional and emerging media channels
  • Advise content strategy for Varsity TV with FloSports
  • Manage entertainment media strategy including product placements and choreography
  • Represent Varsity Spirit in branding work and drive positive storytelling
  • Amplify positive news and create press releases for events
  • Champion Varsity Spirit's community and social engagement campaigns
  • Serve as on-site media contact during events
  • Execute customer communication strategies via email and social media
  • Align external communications with internal messaging
  • Analyze media coverage for positive organizational sentiment
  • Organize and promote PR events like Varsity Brands School Spirit Awards
