Job Description
Amazon is a global leader in e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. Known for its customer-centric approach and innovation, Amazon operates in numerous sectors and continues to expand its offerings to meet diverse consumer and business needs worldwide. The company places a strong emphasis on technology and operational excellence, fostering an inclusive culture that empowers employees—referred to as Amazonians—to deliver the best results. Amazon’s AWS (Amazon Web Services) division is a dominant cloud platform, providing a wide range of services and solutions that support businesses globally, including events, marketing, and sponsorship initiatives.
Within AWS, the Events, Sports, and Sponsorship (ESS) organization plays a crucial role in driving customer engagement through large-scale, high-impact events such as AWS re:Invent, regional Summits, and sports marketing activities with various entertainment and sports partners. The ESS Business Planning team serves as the strategic and operational backbone of this organization, ensuring that business priorities are translated into effective execution plans, partnerships are seamlessly managed, and operations run efficiently with accountability.
Amazon is currently seeking a highly strategic and experienced Senior Manager to join the Business Planning Team within the AWS ESS organization. This is a full-time position based in Seattle, WA, with a salary range of $118,200 to $160,000 annually. The Senior Manager will act as a trusted partner to senior leadership, manage executive-level stakeholder relationships, and drive alignment across multiple internal teams and shared service partners. This role requires a proactive, data-driven individual who excels in translating complex business priorities into actionable strategies, managing cross-functional initiatives, and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
The successful candidate will be responsible for owning dedicated partnerships with shared service teams within the broader AWS Marketing organization, including Strategy and Operations, Marketer Experience, Customer Research, and Data Science and Engineering. This role demands exceptional communication skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced environment while supporting the organization’s highest priorities with precision and impact. The Senior Manager will also help build and maintain roadmaps that articulate joint priorities, implement scalable processes, and oversee the delivery of measurable outcomes that drive business growth and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include strategic planning and support by partnering with leadership to define and communicate long-term goals, tracking progress against key objectives, and translating executive vision into clear, actionable workstreams. The role also involves day-to-day operational oversight to ensure smooth execution of initiatives, managing potential gaps through continuous improvement frameworks, and supporting leadership meetings through agenda setting and progress inspections.
As part of the shared services partnership management, the Senior Manager will maintain close coordination with centralized teams across AWS Marketing. They will ensure that the organization’s needs are understood, prioritized, and resourced adequately, facilitating mechanisms for intake, escalation, and outcome measurement to drive efficiency and bar-raising outputs. The role’s pan-ESS alignment duties include acting as the connective tissue across various sub-teams within ESS, leading or supporting critical projects, and ensuring consistency in strategy, messaging, and operational approaches.
In sum, this role is vital to enhancing the strategic and operational capabilities of the ESS division, driving customer engagement through collaborative and innovative event marketing programs. Amazon offers an inclusive culture that supports career growth, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to work at the forefront of technology and marketing excellence.
