The Electrical Field Test Technician role is a full-time, direct hire position that requires approximately 25% travel for regional and national projects. Ideal candidates are those with advanced certifications such as NETA Level III or IV or NICET equivalent certifications, bringing at least five years of experience in electrical testing and power system services. The role entails rigorous testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of power systems ranging from low to high voltage. Technicians engage in testing acceptance and maintenance activities involving switchgear, relays, transformers, cables, and motor control centers, utilizing advanced tools and software such as Enoserv RTS, Megger, and Omicron. They are also responsible for calibrating both solid-state and electromechanical relays, including models like the SEL 700G.

Beyond technical expertise, this role demands leadership capabilities. The technician leads and mentors Level I and II trainees and assistants, supervises performance, and ensures consistent execution of testing procedures in line with NETA standards. They conduct detailed field service reporting, perform job hazard analyses inclusive of arc flash and shock hazard assessments, and participate in emergency response rotations. The role also supports ABM’s sales team by providing technical consultation and ensuring compliance with NFPA70E and ABM’s safety and quality protocols.
