Job Description

City of Hope is a nationally recognized leader in cancer research, treatment, and patient care, dedicated to making hope a reality for every individual affected by cancer and diabetes. Established in 1913, City of Hope has grown into one of the largest and most advanced cancer research centers in the United States. It is renowned not only for its pioneering cancer treatments but also as a leader in diabetes research and therapies. Over the years, City of Hope has been the foundation for numerous groundbreaking medical advancements, including the development of innovative cancer medicines, human synthetic insulin, and monoclonal antibodies.

The institution maintains an independent, National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, ranked among the top five in the country by U.S. News & World Report for cancer care. City of Hope’s integrated approach encompasses cancer care, research and development, educational programs, and robust philanthropic efforts, all working synergistically to drive forward their mission. Their reach extends nationally with a growing system that includes multiple campuses, clinical care sites across Southern California, a dedicated cancer center in Orange County, and facilities in Atlanta, Chicago, and Phoenix.

The Sr. Environmental Services Technician at City of Hope plays a vital role within the Environmental Services team, tasked with maintaining the highest sanitation standards across hospital units. Working a Monday through Friday schedule from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, the technician ensures the hospital environment remains safe, clean, and welcoming for patients, visitors, and staff. This position involves specialized floor care tasks, including operating advanced cleaning equipment, commercial vacuuming, stripping and refinishing carpets and hard floor surfaces, and performing general cleaning duties that contribute to infection control and overall facility appearance.

With a focus on meticulous cleaning and maintenance, the Sr. Environmental Services Technician supports the hospital’s commitment to patient safety and comfort. The role requires strong customer service skills, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate with a team to uphold the hospital’s sanitary standards. Candidates with prior experience in healthcare environmental services and floor care are preferred, although City of Hope also values dedication, attention to detail, and an eagerness to contribute to a leading healthcare institution.

This role is more than just cleaning; it’s about creating a healing environment that supports City of Hope’s mission of hope and innovation. Staff members play an integral part in this mission by contributing to operational excellence and helping the hospital maintain its status as a top-tier cancer treatment and research center. City of Hope offers competitive compensation based on experience, qualifications, and work location, along with a supportive work environment inclusive of opportunities for professional growth and development.
