The role we are presenting is for a Senior Director of Operations/Utilities Business located in Dallas, TX. This senior leadership position reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for managing daily operations and core functions within the operations division to drive and sustain operational excellence. The Senior Director ensures production and delivery are achieved in full, timely, and meet customer specifications, while pursuing the most competitive cost. They define and align operational financial goals with the wider strategic plans of the business unit and administer programs to meet these goals. On a typical day, this role involves defining operational business targets, directing activities across purchasing, production control, planning, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, and logistics. The position requires regular stakeholder engagement, including monthly meetings with the executive business team and quarterly business reviews with key customers to evaluate key operating indicators and strategize for growth.

Beyond operational leadership, the Senior Director is charged with human resource strategies to recruit, develop, and retain a motivated and qualified workforce, ensuring the team has the capacity and expertise needed to meet organizational objectives. This role demands a strong command of both manufacturing processes and financial management, with experience overseeing operations across multiple shifts and managing a diverse mix of product volumes and complexities. Leadership acumen is essential to influence senior executives, clients, and cross-functional teams effectively. The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience in new product introduction and program management from concept through execution. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 10 to 15 years of industry experience
  • 3 to 5 years in a director of production and operations role
  • Experience overseeing operations across all three shifts
  • Strong financial acumen and P&L management skills
  • Hands-on experience with assembly processes and automation
  • Ability to influence senior leadership and executives
  • Experience with new product introduction
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to manage both high- and low-volume and mix production environments

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • MBA preferred
  • 10 to 15 years of industry experience
  • 3 to 5 years in a director of production and operations role
  • Extensive experience overseeing operations across all three shifts
  • Strong background in P&L management with demonstrated financial acumen
  • Extensive experience in assembly processes and automation systems
  • Expertise in managing high- and low-volume production and high- and low-mix product environments
  • Ability to effectively influence senior leadership, executives, and key clients
  • Hands-on experience with new product introduction, guiding new customer programs from concept through successful execution and delivery
  • Strong sales development capabilities
  • Excellent operational and financial management skills
  • Client-focused with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
  • Extensive experience in expansion and ramping up

Job Duties

  • Guarantee production, delivery in full, on time and in specifications, required by customers, at the most cutthroat cost
  • Define operational financial goals
  • Establish and communicate business unit goals and assignments
  • Define and execute operational programs in line with strategic plans and annual operating goals
  • Meet with executive business at least monthly to review and evaluate KOIs
  • Attend quarterly business reviews with key customers
  • Partner with other business to establish strategic plans and goals
  • Direct and control the activities on purchasing business, production control, planning, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, maintenance, manufacturing and logistics
  • Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce
