Job Description

Virtuoso is the leading global travel agency network specializing in luxury and experiential travel. This prestigious by-invitation-only organization encompasses over 1,200 travel agency locations, employing more than 20,000 travel advisors across 58 countries throughout North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East. With access to 2,500 of the world’s top hotels and resorts, cruise lines, airlines, tour companies, and premier destinations, Virtuoso delivers exclusive amenities, rare experiences, and privileged access to its upscale clientele. The network boasts annual sales of 35 billion U.S. dollars, marking it as a powerhouse in the luxury travel industry. Virtuoso prides itself on its dedication to creating once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences that combine luxury, authenticity, and unparalleled service.

The role of Senior Director, Hotels & Resorts at Virtuoso is a senior leadership position tasked with defining and driving the long-term vision, strategy, and evolution of Virtuoso’s global hotel portfolio. This role demands a strategic, data-driven leader with deep industry expertise, strong cross-functional influence, and the ability to translate insights into scalable, enterprise-level actions. The Senior Director functions as the global Hotel and Resorts Subject Matter Expert (SME), acting as a strategic advisor and internal architect rather than a conventional partner owner. This person shapes the account strategy, product and program design, and aligns hotel-related initiatives across Membership, Product, Marketing, and Account Management, thus ensuring a cohesive ecosystem-wide impact.

The Senior Director’s core responsibility is to maintain a differentiated and high-quality Hotels & Resorts portfolio that meets the ever-evolving needs of travel advisors, travelers, and partners worldwide, maximizing value and return on investment network-wide. The individual will lead and guide advisor-led Hotel Committee forums, leveraging stakeholder input to inform clear and strategic portfolio decisions. They will define a multi-year global strategy aligned with regional market dynamics and traveler expectations, establish a clear strategic framework for partner engagement and contractual structures, and maintain consistent quality standards across the global hotel network while allowing regional flexibility.

Additionally, the Senior Director will manage the partner value proposition, ensuring it delivers measurable ROI and supports sustainable long-term partnerships. They will oversee strategic partner procurement, portfolio composition, and the evolution of partner benefits to keep pace with changing advisor behaviors and market conditions. This role requires leveraging performance data, market insights, and trend analysis to inform strategic decisions, translating complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership. Cross-functional collaboration and regional alignment are crucial, as the Senior Director will work with leadership across partnerships, regions, product development, marketing, events, finance, and operations.

Innovation and future-facing growth are also essential aspects, with a focus on monitoring industry trends, identifying new partnership structures, and championing continuous improvement. The role embodies leadership and influence by offering mentorship to senior leaders responsible for partner execution, influencing outcomes through vision, communication, and collaboration, and representing Virtuoso’s strategic direction both internally and externally.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field, and over 10 years of experience in travel, hospitality, or adjacent industries, with demonstrated success in strategy, portfolio management, or senior partner leadership. Strong commercial acumen, exceptional communication, analytical capabilities, and the ability to influence across teams and geographies are vital. The role involves travel, including domestic and international trips, to support partner engagement and industry representation. Virtuoso offers a competitive salary and full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) savings plan, underscoring its commitment to fostering a diverse and talented workforce.
