Job Description
eBay is a globally recognized leader in ecommerce, revolutionizing the way people buy and sell goods across more than 190 markets worldwide. Established as a pioneering platform for consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer sales, eBay has consistently pushed the boundaries of online shopping by embracing innovation and technology. The company's commitment to authenticity, diversity, and customer-centric values has transformed it from a simple auction site into a dynamic marketplace where millions of buyers and sellers connect every day. At eBay, the culture fosters bold ideas, inclusivity, and collaboration, enabling employees to bring their unique perspectives and talents to work. Through its sustainable practices and forward-thinking initiatives, eBay strives not only to grow its business but also to positively impact communities and the environment globally.
The position of Live Category Manager at eBay represents a unique opportunity to lead within eBay Live, a cutting-edge segment of the platform focused on live commerce. This innovative feature empowers sellers and buyers to interact in real-time via video streaming, enhancing buyer trust and fostering engaging shopping experiences. As a Live Category Manager, the successful candidate will be instrumental in driving category growth by managing the profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for their assigned live commerce categories. The core mandate involves delivering gross merchandise volume (GMV) targets by innovating content formats, acquiring and nurturing sellers, and developing a lineup of compelling live events.
This role requires a strategic mindset blended with creativity to design and implement growth initiatives tailored to live commerce's interactive nature. The manager will lead efforts to recruit and onboard high-potential live sellers, brands, and creators, equipping them with comprehensive coaching to excel on video streams—from assortment planning and run-of-show creation to on-camera performance and live audience engagement analytics. A significant aspect of the job focuses on pioneering new "shoppertainment" formats that combine shopping with entertainment, elevating the viewer's experience and enhancing engagement.
Monitoring category performance, analyzing pilot programs, and extracting key insights to optimize live commerce strategies are critical for continuous improvement. The position also demands cross-functional collaboration with marketing, product, and operations teams to advocate for seller needs and ensure a seamless platform experience. Operational excellence is essential as the Live Category Manager will oversee category-specific budgets and logistical aspects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and execution.
Overall, this role at eBay is designed for a forward-thinking leader passionate about ecommerce innovation, capable of thriving in a fast-paced startup-like environment within a large global corporation. The base salary ranges from $103,600 to $177,800, supplemented by potential bonuses and stock options, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance and paid time off. Joining eBay means becoming part of a diverse team dedicated to connecting people and creating economic opportunity through transformative shopping experiences.
