Job Description
Delaware North Sportservice is a distinguished leader in hospitality management, operating across a variety of venues including sports arenas, national parks, casinos, and more. The company is deeply rooted in tradition as a family-owned business with over 100 years of history, marking its presence as a global legacy in the hospitality industry. Specifically, Delaware North manages concessions, premium dining, and retail operations at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, since the year 2000. Nationwide Arena is a prestigious 18,500-seat venue that is home to the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets and frequently hosts concerts and other large-scale events. The venue features numerous concession outlets offering classic arena fare such as hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, and a wide selection of beers, including local brews from Ohio. This environment provides a vibrant, fast-paced setting for hospitality professionals who thrive in dynamic and exciting workplaces.
Delaware North’s commitment to its team members extends beyond just providing jobs; it strives to create an exceptional employment experience by emphasizing personal and professional well-being. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to ensure comfort, safety, and security to all employees, helping them deliver memorable experiences to guests. With flexible work schedules, weekly pay, employee discounts, and ample opportunities for training and development, Delaware North fosters an engaging and supportive work culture.
The part-time Bartender position at Nationwide Arena plays a crucial role in this environment. The primary responsibility of the bartender is to provide excellent guest service by responsibly serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Bartenders mix drinks following standardized recipes, handle payments accurately, and maintain a well-stocked bar. The role demands conscientious adherence to alcohol service policies, including checking identification to ensure guests meet the legal drinking age requirements. This position is especially suited for individuals who enjoy fast-paced, exciting workdays filled with interaction and energy. It is a tipped role, meaning the listed hourly wage does not include additional earnings from gratuities.
Candidates for the Bartender role must bring a minimum of two years of experience working in high-volume bars or restaurants, with proven skills in cash handling and credit card processing. Familiarity with computerized point of sale systems is also essential. This role requires standing for extended periods, frequent walking, bending, reaching, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, as well as working in environments with moderate to high noise levels during peak times. While no formal education such as a high school diploma or GED is required, the role demands responsible and professional behavior, particularly regarding alcohol service.
Delaware North is committed to equal opportunity employment, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected status. The company’s workforce includes individuals passionate about hospitality, eager to contribute to a team setting, and dedicated to providing outstanding guest experiences. This position offers the exciting chance to work in an iconic sports arena, contributing to the lively atmosphere of game days and events at Nationwide Arena.
