Job Description
The hiring organization is a prominent sports and recreation facility dedicated to hosting and managing a wide range of sports events with a commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction. This establishment is known for providing top-tier sports venues and facilities that cater to various sports such as basketball, volleyball, baseball, soccer, roller derby, and pickleball. They are dedicated to maintaining high standards in venue cleanliness, equipment functionality, and overall park appearance to ensure an outstanding experience for athletes, guests, and event hosts alike.
The Sports Events Manager role is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting directly to the Director of the facility. This position plays a crucial role in supervising and leading team members throughout the entire lifecycle of sports events—from preparation and setup to execution and closeout. The manager is responsible for overseeing venue sports equipment, ensuring all facilities are properly maintained and safe, coordinating event crowd control, and responding promptly to any guest needs or incidents. A key aspect of this job is to promote exemplary customer service and operational efficiency across the facility.
This role also involves maintaining clear and professional communication with event hosts and guests as the primary venue liaison. The manager is charged with executing quality control reviews of grounds maintenance and ballfield preparation, identifying deficiencies, and facilitating repairs in coordination with the Director. Additional responsibilities include custodial duties such as trash removal, restroom cleaning and restocking, gym floor maintenance, and overall sanitation of the park’s common areas. The Sports Events Manager also evaluates team productivity, provides mentorship and corrective action if necessary, and plays an integral role in staffing activities including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new personnel.
This position requires a proactive and solution-oriented individual who supports the organization's mission and values, adhering strictly to safety protocols and confidentiality guidelines. Candidates must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of handling multiple priorities effectively both independently and collaboratively. The role requires flexibility with work hours and the ability to work in various weather conditions given the nature of the outdoor and indoor sports facilities.
The Sports Events Manager is also expected to assist the Concessions Manager as needed and perform duties of a Sports Events Aide when required. This job is suited for a dynamic leader who is passionate about sports event coordination, customer service excellence, and operational management within a recreational sports environment. The comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, employee assistance program, paid time off including vacation and holidays, as well as pension and retirement plans, with benefits depending on the location and employment status.
