Job Description

Frenship Independent School District (ISD) is a reputable educational institution committed to providing exceptional educational experiences and comprehensive community engagement through effective communication strategies. This district is known for fostering a progressive environment focused on academic excellence and the holistic development of its students, including their athletic growth. Located within the Casey Administration Building's Communications Department, Frenship ISD plays a pivotal role in delivering transparent, timely, and engaging information to its community, ensuring that both educational initiatives and extracurricular activities are widely promoted and celebrated.

The Sports Communication Specialist is a vital member of the Communications Department dedicated to supporting and enhancing the district’s athletic programs and overall communication efforts. This position is categorized as district support staff with an emphasis on managing and creating compelling sports-related content. Offered as a 226-day position, the role pays between $20.74 and $29.24 per hour, commensurate with experience, following the Frenship ISD pay scale. Reporting directly to the Chief Communications Officer, the specialist is non-exempt and aligned with pay grade 204, emphasizing the importance of daily, hands-on involvement in district communications.

This position requires the individual to take responsibility for developing dynamic and engaging content that promotes Frenship ISD’s athletic programs, school spirit initiatives, and broader district events. The role demands collaboration with coaches, student-athletes, and school staff to cover games, media opportunities, awards, and recognitions, ensuring the community stays informed and connected. Beyond content creation, the specialist will manage social media accounts, develop creative campaigns, and produce visually impactful graphic designs for diverse platforms, including print, digital publications, and video media.

The Sports Communication Specialist’s duties include managing official athletic social media channels by posting timely and engaging content, crafting social media calendars and promotional campaigns, and monitoring industry trends to adopt innovative engagement strategies. Graphic design responsibilities are central to the role, involving the creation of versatile visuals for game day promotions, athlete recognition, and district-wide athletic achievements. This position also supports the coordination of athletic and district events, acting as a bridge between communication efforts and event logistics.

Effective media and community relations are imperative responsibilities, as the specialist will serve as the primary contact for sports-related media inquiries, organize media coverage of events, and cultivate relationships with local media outlets, sports reporters, and key community partners. Writing press releases, producing media advisories, and facilitating interviews with coaches and student-athletes form part of the public relations duties assigned to this role.

Working conditions for this position involve standard office equipment utilization, including computers, cameras, and video recording tools, with some physical activity like bending or lifting light objects required. The role may occasionally necessitate evening work at athletic events and districtwide travel to cover a variety of functions. Mental resilience is key, as the specialist must maintain composure under stress while managing numerous projects within tight deadlines.

Overall, this opportunity is ideal for a skilled communications professional with a passion for sports and community engagement, equipped with strong graphic design capabilities, social media expertise, and a strategic mindset to contribute to a vibrant school district community.
