LA28’s mission centers on celebrating the city’s rich culture and heritage while providing an unparalleled experience for athletes, fans, partners, and the community. The committee operates with a strong commitment to inclusivity, optimism, integrity, and excellence, dedicated to advancing the Olympic and Paralympic Movements and setting new benchmarks for Games delivery. The organization values collaboration, innovation, and boldness, ensuring that diverse perspectives and expertise fuel the planning and execution of this historic event.

This position demands a deep understanding of para athletics and previous experience managing and delivering para athletics events at various levels, such as club, collegiate, national, or international competitions. The Sport Manager will collaborate directly with World Para Athletics and coordinate efforts across multiple LA28 departments, including Venues and Infrastructure, Ticketing and Hospitality, Transportation, Accommodation, and more, ensuring seamless integration and execution of Games-time operations. Additionally, the role requires liaising with athlete relations, marketing, commercial activities, technology, HR, and finance teams to maintain cohesive communication and strategic alignment across the organization.
This leadership role encompasses the development and design of competition and training venues, collaboration on schedules, equipment validations, and the creation of event operating plans specific to Paralympic Athletics. The Sport Manager serves as the subject matter expert and primary contact for all matters related to para athletics, both internally and externally. Managing the recruitment, onboarding, and leadership of competition management workforce for para athletics is also a pivotal responsibility. The position requires overseeing the preparation and execution of testing events and Games-time operations, ensuring a world-class delivery that supports athletes and international federation requirements.
The ideal candidate possesses at least five years of leadership experience in national and international para athletics event delivery, is detail-oriented, and has outstanding organizational and communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Office suite products and a demonstrated capacity for problem-solving and independent work are essential. Candidates should have a strong collaborative mindset, be capable of managing change effectively, and bring an innovative approach to advancing the Paralympic Movement. The role involves moderate travel, including international, domestic, and local trips, demanding flexibility and dedication to the role’s evolving responsibilities during the lead-up to and duration of the Games. The annual salary range for this position is $88,000 to $108,000. LA28 does not provide relocation assistance.
