Job Description
The Virginia Lottery is an independent state agency committed to providing fun and entertaining experiences while maintaining the highest standards of responsibility and integrity. Established over three decades ago, the Lottery has built a well-respected reputation throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia by consistently supporting public education and other vital state priorities. Proceeds from its traditional lottery games significantly contribute to K-12 public education funding in Virginia, while revenue generated from regulated sports wagering and casino gaming benefits various other Commonwealth initiatives. The Virginia Lottery operates with a strong sense of accountability and community service, making it a respected leader within the public sector and the gaming industry alike.
Currently, the Virginia Lottery is seeking a dedicated Sponsorships and Events Manager to join its Marketing Department. This role is critical in strategizing, planning, and executing marketing sponsorships and in-person events in partnership with external organizations across Virginia. The Sponsorships and Events Manager will be responsible for managing a multi-million dollar budget and overseeing a substantial inventory of premium items, ensuring all activities align with the Lottery's brand guidelines and advertising strategies. This full-time agency employee position offers a competitive salary range between $88,000 and $114,000 and requires working in-office three days per week, specifically including Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
In this dynamic role, the Sponsorships and Events Manager will collaborate closely with the Lottery's media-buying partner to assess the value and return on investment (ROI) of potential media sponsorship opportunities. Once sponsorships are approved, this manager will oversee the execution phase, coordinating creative assets and materials to ensure effective delivery and brand consistency. Furthermore, this position will identify and evaluate in-person events where Lottery products and advertising can be promoted, working in partnership with experiential marketing and other internal teams such as Communications & Customer Relations and Sales to maximize impact. Although not attending each event personally, the manager is responsible for establishing clear guidelines and procedures to guarantee a positive and engaging experience for all event attendees and players.
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills to juggle multiple complex programs simultaneously. Proficiency in managing cross-functional collaborators both inside and outside the organization is essential, along with a solid understanding of sponsorship and event principles. The manager must be comfortable working within tight deadlines and flexible program parameters, analyzing the effectiveness of sponsorships and events to continuously optimize future initiatives. This role offers the chance to contribute directly to the Lottery's mission of supporting public education and community priorities while promoting responsible gaming practices across the Commonwealth.
With a supportive and inclusive work environment, the Virginia Lottery values diversity in its workforce and offers excellent benefits and professional growth opportunities. Joining this agency means becoming part of a rewarding organization that balances meaningful public service with creative marketing challenges in the ever-evolving lottery and gaming sector.
