Job Description

Located just outside the bustling Phoenix metro area, the Tonopah school district in Arizona offers an exceptional opportunity for Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) seeking a supportive and balanced work environment in a more relaxed, small-town setting. Tonopah itself is characterized by wide open spaces, a slower pace of life, and easy access to city amenities. This unique blend makes it an ideal choice for professionals striving to make a meaningful difference in student lives while enjoying a quieter lifestyle within reach of urban conveniences. The Tonopah School District is dedicated to fostering educational excellence and providing resources that support both staff and students. This approach creates an inclusive atmosphere where SLPs can thrive professionally and personally.

The district is currently looking for a full-time Speech Language Pathologist to join the team for the 2026–2027 academic year. This full-time contract position promises a manageable caseload of approximately 50 students, allowing for focused, quality intervention tailored to each child’s individual needs. Scheduled for Tuesday through Friday, this role offers a balanced weekly schedule which is especially attractive for professionals seeking work-life harmony. The district demonstrates its commitment to effective service delivery by assigning a dedicated Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support the caseload. This ensures that the chosen candidate will have the necessary resources to provide comprehensive assessments and therapy services.

The role of the Speech Language Pathologist in Tonopah extends beyond direct student intervention. Responsibilities include conducting speech and language evaluations and re-evaluations, developing and implementing individualized therapy plans in collaboration with educators and families, and maintaining precise documentation in accordance with school and state guidelines. Moreover, the opportunity to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families emphasizes a holistic approach to student progress and well-being. The district values professionals with school-based experience but remains open to strong clinically focused candidates, including those in their Clinical Fellowship year. An active Arizona SLP license is required to apply, aligning with state regulations and safeguarding quality care for students.

This position is perfect for candidates who are passionate about fostering communication and learning growth within the school environment. The manageable caseload, dedicated support staff, and the tranquil yet accessible setting of Tonopah come together to provide a rewarding experience for Speech Language Pathologists at any stage of their career. Whether you are an experienced clinician or relatively new to the field, this role offers a strong support system, a well-defined schedule, and a chance to positively impact student outcomes. Interested professionals are encouraged to submit their resumes for consideration and take advantage of this rewarding career opportunity within the welcoming Tonopah community.
