The role being offered is as a member of the Specialty team, a vital part of the Whole Foods Market operations. This position involves supporting the Specialty department by receiving and preparing products, maintaining a well-organized and visually appealing product floor and displays, and engaging with customers to promote sales that align with the regional Specialty vision. The role requires consistently providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and fellow Team Members, embodying the company's core values and goals at all times.

Team Members in this role are responsible for adhering to store policies and standard operating procedures, while also striving to uphold food safety regulations and sanitation standards. Responsibilities include ensuring fresh product presentation, minimizing spoilage and waste, assisting with sampling programs, maintaining inventory order, and communicating market insights to customers. The position demands a high level of attention to detail, proactive selling skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for natural foods. Physical requirements include being capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and working in a variety of temperature and environmental conditions.

Employment with Whole Foods Market in this role is offered on an hourly basis with a wage range between $19.00 to $25.40, commensurate with experience. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • able to stand or walk for 6 to 8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • able to use hand for single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • able to perform motions including bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • able to work in wet and cold environment
  • able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • able to use tools and equipment including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • completion of TIPS course required where applicable
  • must be 18 years of age or older to serve alcohol

Job Duties

  • Surprises and delights customers with consistent and delicious food
  • engages in positive and proactive selling
  • ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well-stocked
  • checks product to ensure it meets Whole Foods Market quality standards
  • monitors spoilage and supply waste to minimize impact on department expenses
  • assists with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing
  • maintains back stock in good order
  • accesses information about market conditions and communicates to customers
  • ensures temperature, sanitation and sweep logs are completed
  • arrives to work on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follows and complies with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment

  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
