The Specialty Team Member role at Whole Foods Market provides critical support to the Specialty food department. This role involves receiving and preparing products, maintaining the department's quality standards, and delivering exceptional customer service to promote the Specialty vision. Team Members ensure that all products meet Whole Foods Market’s high standards for freshness, quality, and presentation through meticulous attention to detail in stocking, rotating, and merchandising. They engage proactively with customers, offering product knowledge, samples, and positive selling techniques to enhance the shopping experience.
Working as a Specialty Team Member requires collaboration with fellow Team Members and adherence to company policies, health and safety regulations, and food safety standards. Those in this role contribute directly to the store's success by ensuring the Specialty food section is appealing, well-organized, and compliant with all operational protocols. This position requires physical stamina to handle tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, and operating equipment safely.

Job Requirements
- No prior retail experience required
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand or walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
- Ability to use hand motions including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- Ability to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- Ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to use tools and equipment including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- TIPS course completion required where applicable
- Must be 18 years or older to serve alcohol

Job Duties
- Surprises and delights customers with consistent and delicious food
- Engages in positive and proactive selling
- Ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well-stocked
- Checks product to ensure it meets WFM quality standards
- Monitors spoilage and supply waste to minimize impact on department expenses
- Assists with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing
- Maintains back stock in good order
- Accesses information about market conditions and communicates to customers
- Ensures temperature, sanitation and sweep logs are completed
- Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
- Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- Follows and complies with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- Ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
- Immediately reports safety hazards and violations
- Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
