Within this thriving establishment, the IVORY/Noodle Bar department offers a diverse and exciting culinary experience where the Specialty Line Cook position is now open for application. This full-time role is based in the Chicago Southland area and posted on January 20, 2026. The Specialty Line Cook will be a pivotal team member responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of Asian-inspired dishes at multiple cooking stations, ensuring adherence to strict quality and sanitation standards.

This position demands proficiency in using specialized kitchen equipment such as Chinese cook knives, high-pressure wok ranges, bamboo steamers, and rice cookers. The cook must skillfully prepare various components including fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, and seafood and assemble the final dishes to meet detailed recipe specifications. The ideal candidate will have at least six months of experience in an Asian culinary environment supported by certification from culinary and wok training programs, preferably obtained through Wind Creek's own training initiatives.

The Specialty Line Cook’s responsibilities extend beyond cooking to include maintaining organized workstations and refrigeration areas, exercising proper food handling, and ensuring product freshness and safety. Candidates must be capable of working independently or within a team environment, communicating effectively in English both verbally and in writing, and adapting to a fast-paced, evolving work setting.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or currently enrolled and must complete within 6 months
  • Must be 19 years of age or older
  • Minimum six months Asian culinary experience required
  • Completion of culinary and wok training programs at Wind Creek required
  • Mastery of specialized Asian cooking tools
  • Knowledge of flavor profiles and regional Asian cuisine
  • Ability to respond to visual and audible cues
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Effective English communication skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend and calculate using instructions and recipes
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands, talk, hear, taste and smell frequently
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to hot and wet indoor conditions
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Serve Safe Sanitation training completion
  • Willingness to travel and participate in training

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or currently enrolled and successfully completing a GED program within 6 months
  • Minimum of six months experience in an Asian culinary environment
  • Certificate of completion from a culinary training program and wok training program at Wind Creek
  • Mastery of specific tools such as a Chinese cook knife, high-pressure wok ranges, bamboo steamers or rice cookers
  • Deep understanding of flavor profiles and regional Asian cuisine ingredients
  • Ability to respond to visual and audible cues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and prep lists
  • Ability to calculate figures such as measurements, proportions and volumes
  • Ability to follow direction and recipes
  • High level of maturity, dependability and punctuality
  • Successful completion of Serve Safe Sanitation training
  • Ability to adequately and successfully perform all aspects of the position
  • Willingness to travel and participate in recommended or required training
  • Occupational license pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and maintain good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board

Job Duties

  • Slices, dices and chops fruits, vegetables, cheeses, cooked meats, poultry and seafood
  • Prepares dressings, sauces, marinations, canapés, hors d'oeuvres and buffet items
  • Uses slicing machine, mixer and food processor when preparing foods according to standard recipes and specifications
  • Handles meat, seafood, poultry and produce according to proper food-handling procedures
  • Reads and follows recipes/specifications
  • Properly rotates all products
  • Adheres to all sanitation standards in kitchen
  • Uses grill, broiler, convection oven, alto-sham oven, steamer, tilting kettle and steam jacket kettle to prepare foods according to standard recipes and specifications
  • Tests cooked foods by tasting and smelling them
  • Ensures all station product is fresh and conforms to product specifications
  • Memorizes and executes recipes/specifications
  • Observes safety and security procedures
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions
  • Uses equipment and materials properly
  • Reads and retains all pertinent information regarding daily promotions, food and beverage specials, property promotions, station assignments and scheduled entertainment
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality
  • Applies feedback to improve performance
  • Monitors own work to ensure quality
  • Assumes special projects as needed at the direction of the immediate supervisor
