The Specialty Indian Chef role is a vital part of this team, responsible for preparing authentic Indian cuisine that reflects India's vast and diverse regional culinary traditions.

This role demands expertise in Indian cooking techniques, including tandoor cooking, spice blending, curry preparation, and traditional breads. The Specialty Indian Chef manages kitchen operations, maintains food safety and sanitation standards, supervises kitchen staff, and collaborates in menu development to deliver flavorful and visually appealing dishes. The position offers a competitive salaried compensation ranging from $75,000 to $92,000 annually and includes access to extensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, retirement savings plans, and paid leave options.

The Specialty Indian Chef must demonstrate strong culinary skills backed by at least 2-3 years of experience in Indian cuisine and related positions. Further, the role requires culinary education, preferably a culinary degree, advanced knowledge of professional food preparation, and experience managing kitchen teams and operational challenges. Excellent communication skills are also essential to this role.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in Indian cooking with a wide variety of regional cuisines
  • Ability to safely handle knives and kitchen equipment including grills fryers ovens and broilers
  • Knowledge of food safety food handling and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to supervise employees and delegate responsibilities
  • Ability to work in a high-volume kitchen environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to collaborate with culinary teams and clients

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2-3 years in a related position
  • At least 2-3 years of post-high school education preferably a culinary degree
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession
  • Experiential knowledge of management of people and/or problems
  • Verbal reading and written communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare and execute authentic Indian dishes ensuring consistency in flavor presentation and quality
  • Develop innovative recipes while preserving traditional Indian culinary techniques and flavors
  • Manage daily kitchen operations including inventory control ingredient sourcing and equipment maintenance
  • Specialize in tandoor cooking spice blending curry preparation and traditional Indian breads
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff on food safety standards and Indian cooking methods
  • Maintain strict hygiene sanitation and food safety compliance in a high-volume environment
  • Collaborate with Executive Chef to design menus seasonal offerings and event catering selections
  • Oversee catering events and ensure efficient execution of large-scale food production
  • Control food costs through accurate forecasting purchasing and waste reduction strategies
