Gate Gourmet is currently seeking motivated and engaged individuals to join their team as Specialty Cooks. This role is integral to the company’s mission to make travel more enjoyable and memorable by delivering expertly crafted specialty cuisine. Working in a high-paced, dynamic environment, a Specialty Cook at Gate Gourmet is responsible for interpreting and producing specialty food and menus according to precise specifications. This position requires a blend of culinary skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure. The Specialty Cook is expected to prepare high-quality specialty cuisine dishes using specific recipes and cooking techniques tailored for airline catering. The role demands proficiency in converting recipes for large-scale production while maintaining food safety and presentation standards. Employees must consistently follow sanitation requirements, utilize kitchen utensils and equipment skillfully, and adhere to all company policies. Additionally, the position requires the ability to multitask and work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team. Due to the security-sensitive nature of the role, candidates must pass a 20-year FBI background check to obtain an Airport SIDA Badge and hold a valid Nevada food handler safety card (Health Card).

Job Requirements

  • Complies with company policies

  • must be skilled with knives

  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • ability to assist in the preparation of various foods

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree and/or cook certification is preferred
  • expertise in specialty cuisine
  • must have five (5) years of experience in cooking specialty cuisine
  • experience in quantity and quality food preparation and kitchen maintenance
  • read, write, and follow food specifications and menu guidelines
  • communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers

Job Duties

  • Prepares all specialty cuisine dishes as per menu specifications and recipes
  • uses specialty cuisine cooking equipment, techniques and plate presentation
  • converts recipes from specialty cuisine language back into English for specialty cuisine
  • produces classical food items from specifications laid out by airline for specialty cuisine
  • converts specialty cuisine recipes into large quantities for production
  • washes, peels and/or cuts various foods to prepare for cooking or serving
  • carries food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas
  • prepares vegetables, fruits, salads, and foods for cooking
  • must be able to multi-task in a high-pressure environment
  • follows directions
  • works as a member of a team
  • additional duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by management
