The role available is primarily responsible for the preparation of meals according to established recipes and maintaining high culinary standards within the assigned restaurant. This position involves both hands-on cooking duties and leadership responsibilities, including supervising kitchen staff and managing daily restaurant operations. The role demands an individual with comprehensive knowledge of cooking techniques, menu management, and food quality to ensure exceptional guest experiences. Beyond food preparation, the candidate will be expected to handle varied personnel duties such as interviewing, hiring, scheduling, training, and providing coaching to the kitchen team. They will also oversee inventory requisition, ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, and address customer complaints related to food quality promptly and professionally.

This job is ideal for an experienced culinary professional, like a Sous Chef, who possesses not only culinary expertise but also strong leadership and communication skills. Physical stamina to endure the demands of kitchen work, including standing for extended periods and performing various physical activities, is essential. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a similar culinary role
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and menu preparation
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts
  • Physical fitness to handle kitchen tasks including lifting and bending
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications
  • Commitment to upholding food safety and quality standards

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Sous Chef or similar position
  • Thorough knowledge of cooking techniques, menus, and recipes for the assigned cuisine or specialty
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to stand for the majority of the shift
  • Physical capability to perform demands such as grasping, reaching, bending, lifting, and kneeling
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary licenses and/or certifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals according to established recipes and standards
  • Supervise and direct the work of kitchen staff in the assigned specialty restaurant
  • Interview, hire, schedule, train, coach, evaluate, promote, counsel, and discharge personnel as needed
  • Requisition stock according to business needs and par levels
  • Ensure all food products meet quality standards and are properly stored and rotated
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of kitchen, storage areas, and other related spaces
  • Resolve customer complaints about food quality or preparation promptly and appropriately
