The Specialty Business Manager (SBM) for Dermatology will play a critical role in Takeda's sales team, focusing primarily on driving demand for dermatology products through education and relationship building. This position demands a strategic, professional approach to engage healthcare providers (HCPs), including dermatologists, clinics, hospital accounts, and other medical institutions specialized in dermatology. The SBM will utilize business processes that optimize patient outcomes while achieving sales goals. Responsibilities include supporting account onboarding, clinical selling, coordinating clinical education opportunities, and managing key accounts effectively. This position requires excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills, as well as a strong understanding of managed care landscapes and the pharmaceutical industry. The SBM will execute local marketing strategies, build professional relationships, and deliver complex clinical and business information tailored to healthcare professionals’ needs. Furthermore, the SBM must uphold Takeda's patient-first values and maintain compliance with company policies. Proficiency in managing resources such as budgets and collaborations with cross-functional teams is essential. The role also emphasizes ongoing professional development and continuous self-education on emerging treatments and industry changes.

This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays up to 25-50% of the time, depending on geographic assignment. The candidate must reside within or near the assigned territory. The position offers a structured training program including mandatory product training with examinations. Initially considered non-exempt during training, the employee will transition to exempt status upon successful completion, becoming eligible for various sales incentive programs. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years relevant selling experience or 2+ years experience at Takeda
  • Experience in dermatology sales preferred
  • Strong strategic planning skills
  • Knowledge of managed care environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Reside near assigned geography
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel frequently including overnight
  • Successful completion of mandatory product training including exams

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree – BA/BS
  • 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device and/or relevant clinical or industry experience or 2+ years of successful selling experience at Takeda
  • Experience calling dermatologists/dermatology experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills
  • Understanding of managed care landscape and its impact on business
  • Strong verbal, influencing, presentation and written communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills and success working in teams
  • Reside within or close proximity to assigned geography
  • Preferred: minimum of 5 years direct selling experience to healthcare professionals
  • Experience with managing complex reimbursement issues
  • Preferred experience calling on dermatologists

Job Duties

  • Support account onboarding through education
  • Engage in clinical selling activities, including delivering the clinical value proposition, advancing customers across a brand educational continuum
  • Support initial clinical and patient access education for medical staff
  • Coordinate and support clinical education opportunities and programs for healthcare providers such as peer-to-peer education
  • Conduct account management activities within dermatology practices, clinics, outpatient settings, and independent physician offices
  • Attain sales goals and objectives by delivering product volume and other key metrics in the assigned territory
  • Utilize discretion and judgment to execute the franchise and company brand strategy and tactics within the assigned customer segment
  • Establish professional working relationships with healthcare providers, decision makers, support staff, and other stakeholders
  • Develop and deliver targeted sales messages based on accurate clinical information using approved marketing materials
  • Execute marketing strategies at the local level, leveraging resources and working with company teams to enhance business results
  • Present complex clinical and business information to dermatologists, healthcare professionals, patient groups, and others
  • Develop and implement medical education programs to expand healthcare professionals' knowledge
  • Manage allocated resources including budgets, managed markets, and home office support
  • Exemplify Takeda’s patient-first values and adhere to compliance policies and guidelines
  • Demonstrate leadership and integrity, seeking clarification when uncertain on compliance matters
