The Specialty Business Manager (SBM) role within the Dermatology sales force at Takeda is a critical position aimed at driving demand for dermatology products following potential regulatory approval through comprehensive education efforts. The SBM is responsible for engaging healthcare providers (HCPs), optimizing business opportunities in targeted physician offices, dermatology clinics, and hospital accounts. This role requires a deep understanding of the dermatology therapeutic area, excellent clinical selling skills, and the ability to develop and apply business processes that ultimately benefit patients and achieve sales goals.

The SBM will be involved in a wide range of activities including supporting account onboarding through education, delivering clinical value propositions, and advancing customers along an educational continuum. Managing relationships with dermatologists, medical staff, pharmacists, and other stakeholders is key, as is coordinating clinical education programs such as peer-to-peer sessions. The SBM is tasked with attaining sales objectives by strategically executing franchise and company brand strategies within the assigned territory. This includes presenting complex clinical and business information effectively and developing medical education opportunities to expand healthcare professionals’ knowledge.

This full-time role, offered as a regular employee position, is remotely based in Michigan with an hourly wage range between $63.51 and $87.31. The estimated wage can vary based on factors like experience, education, qualifications, and geographic location. The role includes travel requirements of up to 25-50% involving driving or flying to accounts and occasional overnight stays. The position involves mandatory product training including examinations, with a transition from non-exempt to exempt employment status post-training.   • 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device or relevant clinical or industry experience or 2+ years of successful selling experience at Takeda
  • Experience calling on dermatologists/dermatology highly preferred
  • Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Reside within or close proximity to assigned geography
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive or fly to accounts and attend occasional business meetings
  • Willingness to undertake overnight travel up to 25-50%
  • Successful completion of mandatory product training including written and oral exams
  • External hires classified as non-exempt during training period

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree – BA/BS
  • 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device and/or relevant clinical or industry experience or 2+ years of successful selling experience at Takeda
  • Experience calling on dermatologists/dermatology highly preferred
  • Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills
  • Understanding of managed care landscape and its impact on business
  • Strong verbal, influencing, presentation and written communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work successfully in teams
  • Reside within or close proximity to assigned geography
  • Preferred: Minimum of 5 years’ direct selling experience to healthcare professionals in pharmaceutical, biotech or device industry
  • Experience managing and communicating complex reimbursement issues

Job Duties

  • Support account onboarding through education
  • Engage in clinical selling activities including delivering the clinical value proposition and advancing customers along an educational continuum
  • Support initial clinical and patient access education for medical staff
  • Coordinate and support clinical education opportunities and programs for healthcare providers such as peer-to-peer education
  • Conduct account management activities within dermatology practices, clinics, outlets, and independent physician offices
  • Attain sales goals by delivering product volume and other key metrics within the assigned territory
  • Utilize discretion and judgment to execute franchise and company brand strategy within specialty medical practices, hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies
  • Establish professional relationships with healthcare provider decision makers and support staff to promote safe and effective product use
  • Develop and deliver targeted sales messages to healthcare providers using approved marketing materials
  • Execute marketing strategies at the local level leveraging resources and collaborating with company team members
  • Present complex clinical and business information to dermatologists and other healthcare professionals
  • Develop and implement medical education opportunities and sponsor programs to expand healthcare professionals’ knowledge
  • Manage allocated resources including budgets, managed markets, medical affairs, and home office support
  • Exemplify Takeda’s patient-first values and adhere to compliance policies
  • Demonstrate leadership and integrity in all professional activities
