The Specialty Business Manager (SBM) position is a full-time, non-exempt role based in New York with virtual work capabilities. The hourly wage is competitive, ranging from $63.51 to $87.31 dependent upon experience and qualifications. This remuneration reflects Takeda’s dedication to equitable pay and transparency. In this role, the SBM will be responsible for driving demand for assigned products through comprehensive clinical education and business development strategies. The SBM will cultivate strong relationships within the dermatology community by delivering targeted messages supporting the safe and effective use of products backed by accurate clinical data and approved marketing materials. The role involves strategic local execution of marketing campaigns, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and regular management of account activities to meet sales goals and key performance metrics within a designated territory. In addition, the SBM will support onboarding processes, coordinate educational programs, and engage in clinical selling activities to advance product adoption and patient care. This position requires a combination of business acumen, strategic planning, clinical knowledge, and superior communication and collaboration skills. The candidate will be expected to manage resources wisely, including financial budgets and cross-functional support teams, exemplifying leadership and compliance with Takeda’s policies and values. The job entails travel within the territory, including driving or flying to various healthcare settings and may require up to 50% overnight travel depending on geographic needs. Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device or relevant clinical or industry experience, or 2+ years of successful selling experience at Takeda
  • Experience calling on dermatologists or dermatology experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of managed care landscape
  • Strong verbal, influencing, presentation and written communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Reside within or close proximity to assigned geography
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive and/or fly to accounts and occasional business meetings
  • Willingness to undertake some overnight travel up to 50% depending on geographic assignment
  • Successful passage of mandatory product training including written and oral examinations
  • External hires initially classified as non-exempt during training period and eligible for overtime
  • Training includes live instruction, independent study, role play, and training related activities totaling up to 40 hours per week
  • Post-training transition to exempt status with eligibility for sales incentive programs and contests

Job Duties

  • Support account on-boarding through education
  • Engage in clinical selling activities including delivering the clinical value proposition and advancing customers across a brand educational continuum
  • Support initial clinical and patient access education for medical staff
  • Coordinate and support clinical education opportunities and programs for healthcare providers such as peer-to-peer education
  • Conduct account management activities within dermatology practices, clinics and outlets as well as independent physician offices
  • Attain sales goals and objectives by delivering product volume and other key metrics in the assigned territory
  • Utilize discretion and judgment to execute franchise and company brand strategy and tactics within assigned customer segments including physicians and pharmacists
  • Establish professional working relationships with healthcare provider decision makers, support staff, and other stakeholders to support safe and effective use of products
  • Develop and deliver targeted sales messages to healthcare providers to support safe and effective use of assigned products based on accurate clinical information using approved marketing materials and medical reprints
  • Execute marketing strategies at the local level leveraging resources and collaborating with company team members to share ideas and enhance business results
  • Present complex clinical and business information on assigned products and patient support services to audiences including dermatologists, healthcare professionals, professional and patient groups
  • Develop and implement medical education opportunities and sponsor programs to expand healthcare professional knowledge
  • Strategically manage all allocated resources including financial budgets, managed markets, medical affairs, and home office support
  • Exemplify Takeda’s patient-first values and commitment to high standards of customer satisfaction
  • Adhere to all Takeda compliance policies, guidelines, and training
  • Demonstrate leadership and integrity by seeking clarification on compliance matters when uncertain
