Job Description

Takeda is a global biopharmaceutical leader committed to bringing better health and a brighter future to people worldwide. The company focuses on innovative medicines aimed at improving the lives of patients with serious and rare diseases. Takeda operates across various therapeutic areas with a strong emphasis on research, development, and patient-centric care. With its rich legacy of ethical business practices and commitment to diversity and inclusion, Takeda fosters a culture where employees can grow professionally and contribute meaningfully to healthcare advancements. This role is based in Michigan and is offered as a full-time, regular employee position with a non-exempt status. The hourly wage range for this position is $63.51 to $87.31, reflecting the company's commitment to equitable pay aligned with candidates' qualifications and experience.

The Specialty Business Manager (SBM) role within Takeda’s Dermatology sales force is a vital position focused on driving demand for dermatology products, especially following potential regulatory approvals. This role entails educating healthcare providers (HCPs) including physicians, clinics, and hospital accounts specializing in dermatology. The SBM’s main responsibility is to optimize business opportunities through strategic educational initiatives and by cultivating strong professional relationships within the dermatology therapeutic area. The SBM must demonstrate excellent business acumen and a deep understanding of clinical information to fulfill sales goals effectively while upholding Takeda's values and compliance standards.

SBMs are expected to excel in clinical selling by delivering complex product information and value propositions to healthcare providers, supporting patient access through clinical education, and managing accounts ranging from independent physician offices to large healthcare institutions. Tactical execution of marketing strategies at the local level, leveraging both financial and human resources, is crucial for this role. The ability to navigate the managed care landscape and engage with various stakeholders including decision-makers, specialist staff, and pharmacists is vital to ensuring product uptake and appropriate patient care.

This role demands a proactive approach to education, as the SBM must coordinate and sponsor clinical education programs, peer-to-peer learning opportunities, and other initiatives that broaden healthcare providers’ knowledge about therapeutic products and patient support services. The SBM also plays a critical role in representing Takeda’s commitment to patient-first values, ensuring that all educational and sales activities adhere strictly to compliance policies and regulatory guidelines.

Working as part of Takeda’s sales organization, the SBM will contribute towards achieving key sales metrics, including product volume targets within an assigned geographic territory. The role requires the capacity to manage multiple resources, such as budgets and cross-functional teams, effectively while fostering collaboration across the company’s departments. The extensive market knowledge and strategic planning skills required allow the SBM to identify unique business opportunities and adapt swiftly in a changing healthcare environment.

Employees in this position undergo a rigorous training program encompassing live instruction, independent study, role-playing, and examinations to ensure proficiency with Takeda’s products and compliance requirements. Travel, both local and overnight, is expected, necessitating a valid driver's license and readiness to visit healthcare accounts as needed.

Takeda also offers its employees comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plans with company matching, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, holidays, and wellness programs. The company supports work-life balance through paid sick leave and vacation accrual.

Overall, the Specialty Business Manager role at Takeda is an excellent opportunity for experienced pharmaceutical sales professionals passionate about dermatology, committed to patient care, and eager to work within a global biopharmaceutical leader dedicated to innovation, ethical practices, and employee development.
