The company prides itself on its efforts to improve access to fresh and healthy food, support educational initiatives such as school gardens, alleviate poverty in developing regions, and foster environmental stewardship. Whole Foods Market stands out not only as a grocery store but as a community-oriented organization focused on making a meaningful difference locally and internationally.
This role at Whole Foods Market is more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of a company that values personal growth, community impact, and excellence in retail operations. The position assists the Team Leader in managing daily store operations, including profitability, expense control, purchasing, merchandising, labor management, and regulatory compliance. This role requires leadership capabilities to guide and develop team members, ensuring that customer service is exemplary and that store standards are consistently met or exceeded.
The Assistant Team Leader will take on various responsibilities such as developing creative store layouts and product merchandising strategies, working toward sales, purchasing, and labor targets, and assisting with sales analysis and budget preparation. They will support inventory management and help resolve team issues, often serving as the point person in the Team Leader’s absence. The role demands maintaining high retail execution standards and fostering a positive and respectful work environment with outstanding morale. Crucially, the Assistant Team Leader must be responsive to customer needs and questions, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
This position also involves mentoring, coaching, and motivating team members to create a high-performing team while minimizing turnover. The ability to communicate and uphold safety and security standards is vital, as is conducting thorough performance evaluations. An understanding and embodiment of Whole Foods Market’s vision and goals is expected at all times.
Candidates should have a high energy and enthusiastic approach, an affinity for Whole Foods Market's products, core values, and philosophy. Extensive knowledge of specialty products and a growth mindset are essential, alongside skills in leadership, teamwork, customer relationships, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, email, and other operations-related applications is required.
With a wage range of $21.55 to $35.00 hourly, commensurate with experience, this role offers access to Whole Foods Market's "Whole Benefits," a comprehensive package available to full and part-time team members. These benefits include store discounts, paid time off, financial wellness programs, health and wellness support, and other perks. Whole Foods Market is committed to equal employment opportunities, promoting diversity and inclusion throughout its hiring and promotion practices.
Working here means joining a team of world-changers dedicated to setting new industry standards in grocery retail. It is a chance to contribute dynamically both in your local community and on broader scales, advancing sustainable food systems and exceptional retail experiences.
