The Assistant Team Leader position at Whole Foods Market plays a crucial role in supporting daily store operations and contributing to the store’s profitability, customer satisfaction, and team development. This role acts as an essential support to the Team Leader, assisting with buying decisions, merchandising, labor management, and regulatory compliance. Job Requirements
- 18 plus months retail Team Member experience
- 6 plus months supervisory experience
- ability to lift 50 pounds
- ability to stand and walk 6 to 8 hours per day
- ability to perform hand use tasks including grasping, manipulation, pushing and pulling
- capability to bend, twist, squat and reach
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- ability to work in environments with varying temperatures including freezing, refrigeration and warm conditions
- ability to work in wet and cold conditions
- ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
- ability to use tools and equipment including box cutters, electric pallet jacks and heavy machinery
- completion of TIPS course where applicable
- age 18 or older for serving alcohol

Job Duties
- Develops and maintains creative store layout and product merchandising
- works with Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets
- assists Team Leader in analysis of sales, reports, and labor
- assists Team Leader in annual sales and expense projections and budget preparation
- assists Team Leader with ordering and inventory management
- works with Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues
- functions as point person and departmental person in charge in absence of Team Leader
- sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
- fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
- maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers
