The Special Events Assistant position offers an excellent opportunity for those interested in gaining hands-on leadership experience in event management while contributing to the success of community events and special occasions hosted by Brooklyn Park. This seasonal role supports on-site operations and works closely with the Edinburgh Events Supervisor to ensure that a variety of special events run flawlessly. Events coordinated include weddings, golf outings, fundraising galas, community celebrations, and other special occasion gatherings. This position offers flexible, seasonal work of up to 20 hours per week, often including weekends, with shifts varying in time to accommodate different events. The Assistant helps set up and take down venues, manage vendor relations, monitor health and safety compliance, and ensure customer satisfaction during each event.

The hiring wage for this position ranges from $15.30 to $19.67 per hour depending on qualifications, and the anticipated start date is May or June 2026, with flexibility based on candidate availability. This role offers a chance to gain valuable experience in event coordination, facility management, and community engagement in an active, fast-paced environment. Job Requirements

  • CPR, AED and First aid certification

  • Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Russian, Somali, Lao or Vietnamese a plus

Job Duties

  • Support on-site operations for special events
  • Uphold standards and regulations for vendors and customers including food safety and rules
  • Communicate respectfully with event attendees and vendors and resolve disputes
  • Set up and take down event equipment such as tents, tables, and chairs
  • Monitor room temperatures, janitorial supplies, and cleanliness including light snow and ice maintenance
  • Connect with vendors and caterers to describe event expectations and facility use
  • Lock or unlock facilities and prepare the venue
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
