This job opening is for a Temporary Events Coordinator position within the ARC Administrative Services department. The role is hourly, paying between $24.00 and $49.99, with the work schedule to be determined. It is a non-exempt role, meaning the incumbent will be eligible for overtime pay. The position is vital in supporting the College's campus operations by assisting with external rentals and managing miscellaneous events held at the college facilities. The Events Coordinator operates under the direction of the Operations Director or Supervisor and is responsible for multiple critical tasks that ensure the smooth and effective execution of campus events.

The Events Coordinator not only plays a key logistical role but also acts as a primary liaison for visiting teams, officials, emergency personnel, media representatives, community groups, and other organizations utilizing the college's facilities. This person ensures compliance with all permit rules, regulations, terms, and conditions of use for the facilities. Responsibilities also include event setup assistance, unlocking and securing facilities, and ensuring safety and security during events.

In addition to core event coordination duties, this role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks such as operating carts, working concessions, managing parking, handling storage and material goods, ushering, assisting football chain gang crews, scoring operations, announcing, and scoreboard keeping. The Events Coordinator must have effective customer service skills, a strong grasp of English language communication including report and correspondence writing, and comfortable performing basic arithmetic essential to their duties.

Safety is an important aspect of this position. The candidate must be able to follow safety procedures, operate various tools and equipment, and work under physically demanding conditions that may include exposure to inclement weather, chemicals, and heavy lifting. A valid California driver’s license is required to operate district vehicles. The position demands an individual with an equity-minded focus who is responsive and sensitive to the varied backgrounds of community college students, fostering an inclusive educational and work environment.

The position's temporary nature means that employment is limited to a maximum of 135 days or 960 hours within any fiscal year. The role begins on or about July 7, 2026, and applications are accepted until the position is filled. Temporary employees are eligible for sick leave accrual, earning one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and safe work practices
  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor including standing and maneuvering for extended periods
  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Ability to work with solvents, glues, adhesives, cleaning and degreasing solutions and other chemicals
  • Ability to reach, grasp, pull, push, and carry equipment and furniture
  • Frequent stooping, crouching, bending at waist and knees
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Ability to climb and descend ladders and stairs with or without assistance
  • Willingness to wear personal protective and safety equipment including a respirator
  • Ability to safely operate and manipulate hand, electric and other tools
  • Awareness of safety hazards including exposure to sharp blades

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Assist with external rental and miscellaneous events held at the college facilities
  • Greet and serve as the official liaison for visiting teams, officials, emergency personnel, media, community groups, and other organizations
  • Assist with event set-up requirements including unlocking and securing facilities
  • Notify police or operations director/supervisor of non-compliance with facility use permit rules and regulations
  • Perform filing and prepare reports
  • Operate carts and manage concessions
  • Oversee parking and storage of material goods
  • Serve as usher and assist the chain gang crew for football
  • Perform announcer and scoreboard operator duties
  • Execute all other organizational duties as assigned
