This role operates under the direction of the Assistant Manager of Cultural Affairs or their designee and offers a dynamic opportunity to shape and manage a variety of community engagement programs and special events. The City of Frisco prides itself on providing exceptional recreational, cultural, and artistic experiences that enrich the lives of its residents and visitors. With a focus on innovation and community involvement, the city supports events that encourage play, build awareness, and create unique, memorable experiences for all participants.
As a Special Events Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and evaluation of special events that serve the community. This position involves overseeing the operations of key venues such as the 4th Street Plaza, coordinating staff and volunteer schedules, managing event logistics including purchasing and rentals, and ensuring seamless collaboration with various city departments, outside vendors, and community organizations. You will be responsible for negotiating and managing partnerships and sponsorships to support major events, enhancing the resources and impact of the Cultural Affairs division.
The role demands strong leadership capabilities as you will be supervising assigned staff, contractors, and volunteers, providing training, coaching, and professional development opportunities. You will handle the division's budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility while maximizing event outcomes. In addition to operational oversight, the job includes responding to customer inquiries, resolving complaints, and serving as a liaison between the city and advisory boards, community groups, and volunteer associations. This is an exciting role for someone passionate about community development, event management, and cultural enrichment, with opportunities to influence the implementation of the Cultural Affairs Master Plan.
This position requires a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, addressing challenges with professionalism, creativity, and sound judgment. Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays is necessary to ensure the success of community events. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in event planning, excellent communication skills, proficiency with technology tools for marketing and administration, and a strong commitment to public service. By joining the City of Frisco, you will be part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to making a meaningful impact through cultural and community programming.
