The Special Events, Scheduling, & Protocol - Student Assistant position at CSUSB Palm Desert Campus offers a unique opportunity for current CSU students to gain hands-on experience in event setup and coordination, working under the guidance of the Associate Director. This part-time, temporary role is designed to support various facets of event operations including physical setup, equipment management, and logistics, ensuring that every event runs smoothly and efficiently. The position demands a proactive individual capable of multitasking and team collaboration, while also being dependable and detail-oriented. Student assistants will be involved in setting up tables, chairs, stages, and technical equipment like pipe and drape, alongside managing post-event tear downs and equipment inventories. This role also includes responsibilities such as maintaining storage areas and adhering strictly to campus safety protocols during events.

Compensation for this position starts at $16.90 per hour, reflecting both internal equity and relevant experience. Students hired for this role will be working onsite with specific hours available during the academic year and extended summer schedules. The position is pivotal in developing professional skills in communication, organization, and event logistics, preparing students for future career opportunities. Job Duties

  • Assist with set-ups and teardowns at the Palm Desert Campus as well as supporting events at the San Bernardino Campus
  • set up tables and chairs
  • build stages
  • install pipe and drape
  • arrange other equipment as needed
  • support post-event tear-down, clean-up, and inventory of equipment
  • maintain event storage areas and ensure equipment is in good working order
  • transport event materials and equipment between locations as needed
  • follow campus safety and security protocols during event operations
  • perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Lead
