Job Description
St. Louis Public Radio (STLPR) is a renowned multimedia nonprofit journalism organization and an NPR member station dedicated to delivering high-quality news, information, and cultural programming to its community. STLPR is committed to the highest standards of journalism, fostering public engagement and elevating community discourse through its diverse platforms including radio broadcasts, digital media, and live events. The organization operates as a nonprofit, relying significantly on community support and fundraising activities to ensure the sustainability and growth of its mission-driven journalism. STLPR is well-regarded for its innovative programming and active involvement in the local community, making it a vital source of trusted news and information for residents in the St. Louis region and beyond. Working at STLPR means joining a passionate, collaborative team that values creativity, integrity, and community impact.
The Special Events Coordinator plays an essential role within STLPR's fundraising team, directly supporting the Event Director in the planning, execution, and follow-up of a variety of fundraising and engagement events. This role is responsible for managing smaller engagement opportunities, cultivating donor relationships, and helping to expand STLPR's reach to new audiences. The Special Events Coordinator will collaborate with staff across departments, board members, and volunteers to orchestrate a diverse calendar of events including performances, broadcasts, galas, receptions, fundraising campaigns, and donor appreciation parties.
This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys working collaboratively to further STLPR’s mission. The Coordinator will be the primary point of contact for specific events throughout the year and will assist in delivering creative event elements such as themes, decor, invitations, and promotional materials. Responsibilities also include managing event databases, tracking RSVPs, coordinating on-site event production, and handling post-event activities. Additionally, the role supports STLPR’s Generation Listen initiative, contributing to event planning and coordination geared towards engaging young listeners and supporters.
The Special Events Coordinator is expected to work 40 hours per week and participate in events that may require weekend and evening hours. Supervision for this role is provided by the Events Director, but the Coordinator will frequently oversee volunteers and interns. The anticipated salary range for this position is between $54,000 and $60,000. STLPR offers this role as a full-time opportunity with a comprehensive benefits package available through the University of Missouri system, including health, dental, vision coverage, retirement plans, and paid leave.
Joining STLPR means becoming part of a motivated fundraising department that seeks passionate individuals who bring unique skills and perspectives to support the sustainable growth of public radio. This role is perfect for those with a background in event management or fundraising who desire to contribute to impactful journalism through creative and meaningful events that engage the community and nurture donor relationships. If you are a proactive event professional with excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a collaborative spirit, this position offers an exciting platform to grow your career while making a difference in public media.
