Job Description
Augusta University stands as Georgia's premier innovation center for education and healthcare, dedicated to training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. With a robust presence across multiple campuses in Augusta and locations statewide, Augusta University serves more than 12,000 students. The university thrives by offering educational opportunities in the heart of Georgia's cybersecurity hub, uniquely blending arts, humanities, and health sciences into experiential learning programs. Beyond education, Augusta University houses Georgia's only public academic health center, wherein groundbreaking research fosters a healthier, thriving community. Clinicians here are pioneers, translating tomorrow's medical breakthroughs into today's patient care, positioning Augusta University as a beacon for advanced medical education and research.
The institution is deeply committed to integrity, excellence, accountability, and respect, values that underpin its operations and culture. It fosters strong partnerships across corporate, government, and community spheres to address critical health, security, economic, and societal challenges within Georgia and beyond. This dedication ensures that Augusta University not only imparts knowledge but also actively contributes to societal progress.
The Special Events Coordinator role at Augusta University is integral to maintaining and elevating the institution's community engagement and outreach efforts. This full-time position is located primarily on campus in Augusta and offers an annual salary ranging from $48,800 to $58,240, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, promoting, and executing special events for university partners, serving as a pivotal resource for event management across the campus community. Their work aids in establishing and nurturing relationships with both internal stakeholders and external collaborators, ensuring that events uphold Augusta University's high standards of protocol, etiquette, and professionalism.
This role demands a strategic thinker who can envision and realize event concepts from inception through to successful completion, managing all logistical details, timelines, budgets, and venues. The coordinator educates partners on event protocols, develops training curricula for internal event facilitators, and consistently supports the enhancement of event quality and partnership effectiveness. The position calls for an individual with extensive experience in event planning, an eye for detail especially regarding event psychology, design, and placement, and exemplary communication skills to interact confidently with senior leadership and a broad range of stakeholders.
Working Monday through Friday during the day, the role occasionally requires flexibility to cover events outside of regular business hours. Augusta University provides an attractive benefits package including health, dental, and life insurance, retirement plans, vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, and a tuition assistance program for eligible employees. Candidates must successfully pass a background check and hold a valid driver’s license as part of the employment conditions.
Joining Augusta University means becoming part of a dynamic, inclusive community dedicated to advancing education and healthcare while fostering an environment that supports personal and professional growth. The Special Events Coordinator position offers a unique opportunity to influence the university's presence and impact through expertly managed, memorable events that embody Augusta University's mission and vision.
