Job Description
The Division of Sidewalk & Inspection Management (SIM) is a key operational division within the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) dedicated to the maintenance and oversight of the city's extensive sidewalk network and corner infrastructure. Responsible for managing approximately 12,750 miles of sidewalks and over 185,000 corners, SIM ensures safe, accessible, and well-maintained pedestrian environments across the city. This division plays a vital role in urban infrastructure by conducting regular inspections, coordinating repairs, and implementing improvements to enhance public safety and accessibility.
Within this framework, the Office of Special Events functions as an essential unit tasked with overseeing the coordination of all public events in New York City on behalf of the DOT. This office strategically plans and manages events to minimize disruptions to the city's infrastructure, public spaces, facilities, and transportation systems while elevating New York City's status as a premier destination for various cultural, recreational, and ceremonial gatherings.
The Office of Special Events is currently seeking to hire a College Aide to provide essential administrative and operational support to its daily functions. This entry-level position offers aspiring professionals a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in city government operations, particularly in departments focused on public engagement and community event management.
