Job Description
The University of North Florida (UNF) is a prominent public university located in Jacksonville, Florida. Recognized as a Carnegie Community Engaged Institution, UNF commits itself to fostering strong partnerships with community organizations locally and globally, reflecting its mission to contribute to the public good and to prepare educated and engaged citizens. UNF prides itself on providing a welcoming and inclusive environment that embraces diversity and promotes equality across all aspects of its community, be it educational, social, or employment-related. The university does not tolerate discrimination or harassment based on genetic information, race, color, religion, age, sex, disability, marital status, national origin, or veteran status, and strongly enforces policies to ensure a safe and respectful workplace and campus environment.
The Athletics, Facilities & Operations department at UNF plays a pivotal role in managing the university's diverse athletic programs and the facilities that support them. This department is tasked with orchestrating day-to-day facility maintenance, event logistics, and operational support services to ensure seamless execution of athletic and special events within the university's sports and recreation venues. The department emphasizes adherence to NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference regulations, as well as UNF’s own policies, to maintain integrity and compliance in all their operations.
The role offered is an hourly position within this dynamic department, compensated at $15.00 per hour. It centers around coordinating operational logistics for athletic and special events hosted throughout UNF’s athletic facilities. This position supports the management and execution of event contracts and services, ensuring that event requirements are met with high standards of safety, efficiency, and quality. A critical component of the role involves assisting with the daily operations and maintenance coordination of these athletic facilities to keep them event-ready and in optimal condition.
Furthermore, the position requires collaboration with various internal departments and external partners, including vendors and contractors, to facilitate smooth event operations. This includes coordinating staffing, scheduling, and overall event planning in support of Facilities & Operations leadership. The role is vital to creating excellent event experiences for athletes, spectators, visitors, and the university community at large.
Candidates for this position must be aware that the role designates the holder as a "Responsible Employee" under Title IX. This means the incumbent must promptly report any allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, or child sexual abuse involving students, employees, contractors, or visitors to the appropriate University Title IX administrator. Adhering to these reporting guidelines is crucial in maintaining the safety and wellbeing standards upheld by the university.
Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with NCAA, Atlantic Sun Conference bylaws, and all university regulations related to athletic compliance. Maintaining these standards and promptly reporting any violations are key duties attached to the position.
Overall, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the seamless operation of athletic and special events at a respected higher education institution, supporting a team dedicated to excellence and community engagement. It is ideally suited for candidates who thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments and who are committed to upholding the values and regulatory standards of collegiate athletics.
