The Salvation Army is a renowned international charitable organization dedicated to providing support and resources to individuals and communities in need. With a presence in Northeast Florida, the organization is committed to improving lives through a variety of social services and fundraising efforts. The Salvation Army's Development Department plays a crucial role in securing the financial resources required to continue its vital work, and it does so through effective volunteer coordination and special event planning. As a well-established nonprofit entity, The Salvation Army offers a collaborative and mission-driven work environment focused on community impact and sustained growth.
The position available is for a Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator based in Northeast Florida, offering a full-time schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with a possibility of weekend hours depending on event needs. This role is vital to the success of the organization's fundraising and community outreach efforts. The coordinator will plan, organize, and supervise special events, manage relationships with volunteers and donors, and ensure seamless execution of fundraising activities. These efforts include securing venues, equipment, and transportation, as well as recruiting and training volunteer staff for various event campaigns such as the Red Kettle Fundraiser during the holiday season, volunteer appreciation dinners, and other significant community celebrations.
The candidate will be responsible for setting revenue goals to help meet the Development Department’s overall fundraising objectives and will serve as a key liaison between event teams and the Public Relations Coordinator to maximize media exposure and community engagement. This position demands a detail-oriented, outgoing professional who excels in building and maintaining relationships with vendors, volunteers, and donors. Additionally, the role requires attendance at community networking events, volunteer fairs, workshops, and webinars to enhance volunteer recruitment and foster community visibility of The Salvation Army’s programs.
Special emphasis is placed on the strategic planning and execution of the Red Kettle volunteer and site recruitment efforts, ensuring that volunteer staffing meets the demands of each campaign and event efficiently. Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing Red Kettle assistants, ensuring they are trained and monitored during the holiday season to optimize campaign outcomes. The role offers an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the community while developing skills in nonprofit event management, volunteer coordination, and fundraising strategies. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic and mission-centered environment, demonstrating flexibility to work some nights and weekends as events dictate. This position exemplifies leadership in community engagement and fundraising, contributing directly to the sustained success and growth of The Salvation Army’s charitable mission in Northeast Florida.
