Job Description
The Salvation Army is a globally recognized organization dedicated to providing humanitarian aid, social services, and community support with deep-rooted Christian principles. Known for its commitment to serving the vulnerable and promoting positive social change, The Salvation Army operates in various regions, playing a crucial role in fostering community welfare through its diverse programs. The Arlington Corps and North Texas Youth Education Town (YET) represent vibrant local arms of this organization, focusing on youth education, community engagement, and volunteer-driven initiatives aimed at enriching lives and strengthening community bonds in North Texas. The Salvation Army’s presence in Arlington emphasizes creating impactful volunteer experiences and facilitating meaningful community events that align with its mission to serve and uplift.
This role focuses on coordinating and enhancing The Salvation Army’s public image and volunteer involvement through strategic event management and volunteer coordination within the Arlington Corps and Youth Education Town. The position requires an individual who will plan, schedule, and manage a wide array of activities — including meetings, birthday parties, special events, and community outreach — with a strong emphasis on volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement. A vital aspect of the role involves developing a comprehensive volunteer program that ensures adequate support for The Salvation Army’s ongoing operations and seasonal initiatives like Thanksgiving, Christmas Angel Tree, Red Kettle Programs, and Veterans Day celebrations.
In addition to volunteer oversight, the individual will collaborate closely with Food Service, Fund Development, and Marketing teams to optimize facility usage and event promotion, thereby supporting both logistical and fundraising objectives. The job demands proactive communication and strong organizational skills to liaise with community agencies, serve as the organization's spokesperson at volunteer events, and maintain up-to-date administrative records. Candidates must exhibit innovative thinking and a dedication to leading-edge volunteer coordination practices, alongside the flexibility to work during evenings and weekends as needed.
Overall, this position is ideal for someone passionate about non-profit administration, community service, and event planning who is eager to contribute to The Salvation Army’s mission through effective volunteer and event management. Holding a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Administration, Marketing, or a related field and possessing two to three years of progressively responsible experience in event or volunteer management will prepare candidates for success. This role underscores the values of professionalism, community engagement, and a commitment to Christian ministry, all fundamental to The Salvation Army’s ethos.
