Job Description

Brooks Rehabilitation is a leading healthcare organization dedicated to providing comprehensive rehabilitation services through its extensive system of care. Known for its commitment to improving the quality of life for patients and communities alike, Brooks Rehabilitation operates with a deep focus on innovation, compassion, and excellence. The Brooks Health Foundation supports these goals by mobilizing resources to fundraise for critical programs and services that benefit patients and enhance community engagement. The foundation’s fundraising and community events play a pivotal role in securing the financial backing necessary to sustain and expand these vital services.

The Special Event and Development Specialist position at Brooks Health Foundation is a key role designed to ensure the success of both fundraising and community engagement events. This full-time role, based at Brooks Hospital in Jacksonville, FL, involves strategic planning, coordination, and execution of various events aimed at meeting annual revenue goals that support the Brooks Rehabilitation system. The Specialist is responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and vendors to drive increased sponsorships and donations. This role also demands meticulous attention to event logistics, sponsor fulfillment, and adherence to Brooks' policies and procedures.

The Specialist’s work extends beyond just event management; it encompasses developing a comprehensive strategy to achieve net revenue targets within approved budgets, delivering compelling fundraising campaigns, and providing leadership to event committees. By securing and retaining sponsorships and in-kind donations, the Specialist helps build a sustainable donation pipeline that supports long-term foundation goals. The role requires exceptional organizational and communication skills to manage multiple projects efficiently and engage stakeholders effectively.

Engagement with the broader community and Brooks employees is also a critical part of this role. The Specialist contributes to raising public awareness and participation in foundation events that reinforce the mission of Brooks Rehabilitation. Traveling up to 30% of the time may be required to support events occurring in various locations, which adds a dynamic element to the position. Furthermore, this role includes responsibilities connected to donor recognition and stewardship programs, supporting foundation team members, and ensuring high standards in all fundraising and community benefit events.

Brooks Rehabilitation offers a collaborative and supportive work environment where employees are encouraged to thrive and take pride in the meaningful contributions they make. The foundation recognizes the importance of employee well-being by offering a competitive compensation package along with comprehensive benefits such as paid time off, retirement plans, employee discounts, and more. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals who are passionate about philanthropy and community engagement and who want to make a tangible impact in healthcare fundraising efforts through innovative event management and strategic development initiatives.
