Rowley Training Center in Laurel, Maryland. During their careers, Special Agents must maintain firearm proficiency, secure and retain a Top Secret clearance, and comply with other stringent eligibility criteria, including visual and hearing standards. Mobility and flexibility are essential, as Special Agents must be willing to relocate as necessary both nationally and internationally. Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Possess a current valid driver's license
  • Carry and use a firearm with maintained proficiency
  • Must be at least 20 years old at application and under 40 at referral with exceptions
  • Obtain and retain Top Secret Clearance
  • Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular and corrected acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
  • Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in the 500, 1000, and 2000Hz ranges
  • Submit to drug tests prior to appointment and randomly thereafter
  • Complete 13 weeks training at FLETC and 18 weeks specialized training at James J. Rowley Training Center
  • Sign a mobility agreement accepting assignments anywhere in the U.S. and overseas
  • Certify Selective Service registration if applicable
