The successful candidate will take charge of ensuring that all food preparation meets the highest quality and sanitation standards, all while supporting the development and training of the kitchen staff. Reporting jointly to the General Manager and Culinary Director, this position requires a collaborative approach to maintain smooth, efficient kitchen operations. The Kitchen Manager will manage the inventory, coordinate vendor orders, minimize waste, and keep detailed records to optimize the kitchen's efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Key responsibilities include supervising baking and prep processes, maintaining high standards of food presentation and safety, and leading the team in adherence to health regulations and best practices. Beyond the kitchen, the role also involves supporting various store functions such as cashier duties, pastry preparation, and dish operations, demonstrating versatility and a team-oriented mindset. This comprehensive leadership role is therefore ideal for someone with strong culinary skills, experience in kitchen management, and an ability to effectively communicate and motivate a team. Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in kitchen operations
  • Familiarity with health and safety standards specific to a fast-casual kitchen and bakery environment
  • Proficiency in using culinary tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly with team members and department leaders
  • Ability to remain calm, positive, and effective under pressure, addressing and resolving issues as they arise
  • Capability to lift 25+ pounds, stand for extended periods, climb ladders
  • Culinary training or certification is a plus
  • Food Handler's Certification (obtain or provide upon hire)

Job Duties

  • Assist the General Manager in recruiting, training, and developing kitchen staff
  • Manage food inventory and place orders with vendors and Sparrow Kitchen
  • Maintain accurate pars and waste logs and implement improvements
  • Organize and ensure proper execution of daily baking and prep lists
  • Oversee line operations to ensure smooth production of orders
  • Collaborate with Culinary Director to ensure food preparation and safety standards
  • Enforce sanitation practices and adhere to food safety regulations
  • Support maintenance issue resolution for the kitchen
  • Provide assistance with cashier functions, pastry, prep, expo, and dish duties as needed
