The Spa Director position at Hyatt Regency Tamaya leads the award-winning Tamaya Mist Spa & Salon. This role is critical in ensuring that the spa experience reflects the cultural spirit of Tamaya while delivering exceptional wellness, beauty, and healing services that meet high standards of quality and guest satisfaction. As the Spa Director, the individual is responsible for both strategic and operational leadership, including overseeing short- and long-term planning, financial performance, marketing strategies, staff development, and overall operational excellence.

The Spa Director sets the overall vision and daily operational direction for the spa and salon, maintaining a strong awareness of industry trends, competitor offerings, and innovations to keep the spa at the forefront of the luxury wellness market. They foster a safe, secure, and culturally respectful environment for both guests and colleagues, helping to uphold Hyatt's renowned service standards. The role involves hands-on leadership, including resolving guest concerns with empathy and professionalism, conducting daily walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness and readiness, and managing retail inventory and merchandising strategies.

Marketing responsibilities include the development and execution of spa marketing strategies aimed at growing business, identifying new markets, and elevating brand presence. The Spa Director collaborates closely with the resort's marketing manager on promotions, media opportunities, and storytelling to attract new guests and enhance customer loyalty. They also support sales activities such as leading site inspections and tours for potential group business, which helps to build a robust client base.

Financial management is a key component of the role, involving the review and analysis of financial and operational reports to support informed decision-making. The Spa Director manages labor scheduling, payroll control, budget preparation, variance monitoring, and implements corrective actions when necessary to meet financial goals. They also identify capital improvement needs and prepare justifications to secure necessary investments, all while tightly controlling costs to maximize profitability.

Job Duties

  • Lead the overall strategy, vision, and daily operations of Tamaya Mist Spa & Salon
  • Maintain awareness of competitor offerings, trends, and industry innovations
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and culturally respectful environment for guests and colleagues
  • Uphold Hyatt’s service standards and ensure exceptional guest satisfaction
  • Resolve guest concerns with empathy, professionalism, and urgency
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness, readiness, and maintenance follow-up
  • Oversee retail inventory, merchandising, and product strategy
  • Support team members with operational challenges and guest interactions
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to grow business, identify new markets, and elevate brand presence
  • Partner with marketing manager on spa promotions, media opportunities, and storytelling
  • Conduct sales tours/site inspections for potential group business
  • Review, analyze, and interpret financial and operational reports
  • Manage labor scheduling and payroll controls to meet budgetary expectations
  • Assist in budget preparation, monitor variances, and implement corrective actions
  • Identify capital improvement needs and prepare supporting business cases
  • Control costs and meet cost of services goals
