The role of Sous Chef at Cogir Senior Living plays a critical part in maintaining the high quality of dining experiences offered at its communities. Reporting to the Director of Culinary Experience, the Sous Chef oversees all daily operations of the community's restaurant. This position involves managing kitchen staff, meal preparation, purchasing, cost control, sanitation, safety protocols, and staff training. The Sous Chef contributes to creating diverse menus that range from traditional comfort foods to innovative dishes inspired by global cuisines, with a strong emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and cooking from scratch. The role is not only about culinary skills but also about fostering connections with residents and enhancing their quality of life through exceptional food service. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • culinary education or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • serve safe manager (food handler certificate)
  • minimum three years of food preparation experience in full-service kitchen
  • supervisory experience preferred
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment and knife handling
  • understanding of kitchen sanitation and food safety codes
  • availability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
