The Sous Chef position at Morrison Living, located at Capri - Vista West in Madison, WI, is a vital role within the culinary team that reports directly to the Executive Chef. This position is available on a full-time or part-time basis with flexible shifts from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm and/or 10:30 am to 6:30 pm. Additionally, the Sous Chef will manage inventory, monitor product consumption and waste, and maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization. Job Requirements
- Three to five years of senior living culinary experience
- Proven sous chef experience
- Valid ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to work full or part time shifts as scheduled
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to supervise and train staff
- Ability to maintain sanitation and food safety standards
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle customer complaints professionally

Job Duties
- Help executive chef prepare and cook foods
- Coordinate activities of cooks and other food-service associates
- Assume responsibility for kitchen and food-service associates in the absence of executive chef
- Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
- Ensure all deadlines are met based on production orders
- Supervise hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action
- Store food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
- Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
- Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly service-oriented manner
- Relay relevant information directly to supervisor
- Demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them to associates and customers
- Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
- Track product production, consumption and waste
- Inform supervisor when supplies or product are low
- Perform other duties as assigned
