The role of Sous Chef at Morrison Living is central to the operation of the kitchen and food service departments, focusing on supporting the Executive Chef in food preparation, cooking, and overseeing kitchen activities. The Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in ensuring that food is prepared in accordance with approved recipes and production standards, meeting deadlines and maintaining the highest quality. Responsibilities include supervising hourly food service associates, managing scheduling, training, and performance reviews, and ensuring compliance with food safety guidelines such as ServSafe certification, which the company supports by covering certification expenses. Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and recommending disciplinary actions
  • Stores food following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures
  • Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils and cleans workstation thoroughly
  • Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly and service-oriented manner
  • Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
  • Monitors inventory and deliveries of products and supplies, tracks production, consumption, and waste
  • Performs other duties as assigned
