The Sous Chef role at Hai Hospitality offers hospitality professionals an exceptional career opportunity within a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment. The Sous Chef will be responsible for motivating, mentoring, and developing culinary teams composed of cooks and chefs, while maintaining the highest culinary standards in a scratch kitchen setting. Supporting multiple kitchen stations and participating actively in food preparation is a key part of the role. Additionally, the role encompasses various administrative tasks, including ordering, scheduling, inventory management, and other essential kitchen operations. Prospective candidates should be ready to relocate temporarily to one of several existing markets such as Austin, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Denver, Scottsdale, or West Hollywood for training, with lodging provided.

This position requires hands-on culinary leadership and the ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. Job Requirements

  • must be able to effectively communicate with guests and other employees
  • detect and identify safety issues, and comply with safety guidelines and standards
  • lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs, stock inventory, and perform restocking duties
  • must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas and items
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • ability to work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold
  • lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements

  • maintain a neat and organized workspace, including proper storage of supplies and cleaning of surfaces
  • move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs

Job Duties
