Job Description
The Stanley Hotel, nestled just a few miles away from the breathtaking Rocky Mountain National Park and located in the heart of Estes Park, Colorado, stands as an iconic landmark known for its rich history and unique charm. Established by F.O. Stanley, this historic property has earned its place on the National Register of Historical Places and is famously recognized for its portrayal in the 1980 classic film, The Shining. The Stanley Hotel offers guests an unparalleled experience with its combination of several buildings, a hedge maze, multiple restaurants, and expansive grounds, making it THE premier destination in Estes Park for visitors and locals alike.
At Sage Hospitality, the management company behind The Stanley Hotel, we take pride in daring to be different. We don't just provide an experience for our guests; we create enriching and memorable journeys for our team members. We believe in authenticity, passion, and a creative spirit that sets us apart from the ordinary. We are looking for storytellers and experiential guides who are laid-back yet attentive, genuinely enthusiastic, and who possess a passion to share with others and the community. This approach fosters a vibrant and welcoming workplace culture that attracts and retains talented individuals who want to grow and contribute in meaningful ways.
This full-time position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $70,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, well-being, and financial security. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, health savings and flexible spending accounts, basic life and AD&D insurance, paid time off for vacation, sick time, and holidays, participation in the company’s 401(k) program with employer matching, an employee assistance program, tuition reimbursement, free on-site parking, great discounts on hotels and restaurants, and eligibility for the employee referral bonus program providing up to $1,000 per referral.
The role of Kitchen Manager at The Stanley Hotel is integral to the hotel's commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily production, preparation, and presentation of all food served in the hotel’s restaurants and through room service. This role ensures that all food complies with the highest quality standards, safety, sanitation, and relevant regulatory requirements. The manager plays a key role in maintaining the competitive and profitable operation of the kitchen, managing food and labor costs, and assisting the Executive Chef with the creation and implementation of menus and production changes.
Key responsibilities include managing kitchen staff to foster a motivated and skilled team, scheduling and overseeing maintenance and sanitation to ensure a healthy and safe work environment, and promoting the Accident Prevention Program to minimize work-related risks and liabilities. The position requires a hands-on leadership style that balances operational efficiency with high standards for food quality and employee engagement.
Physical demands of this position include regular lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of food and equipment, frequent bending, mobility across kitchen areas, continuous standing during preparation and service, and the ability to hear timers and communicate clearly with staff. The working environment includes exposure to extreme temperatures, ranging from freezer conditions at -10 degrees to hot front-line cooking stations exceeding 100 degrees.
Working at The Stanley Hotel means joining a team where your contributions are valued and your professional growth is supported. If you have the passion for culinary excellence combined with strong leadership skills and a desire to be part of a historic yet forward-thinking establishment, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity to lead our kitchen team and help create memorable dining experiences for guests from around the world.
